Basically Cable internet has been down for the last week, guy came out, fixed it for about 3 hours. Broke again.

A) I hate **** cable.

B) Can I tell them I wont be paying for the week since I didn't receive the services Im paying for?

I doubt you can get money back, companies usually dont work like that. They might give you an extra week on your subcription or soemthing.

My cable went down for a weekend last year, i rang em up and complained as it was the weekend before coursework deadlines and their timing couldn't have been worse. They gave me that month half price.

Ask them, I'm pretty sure that whatever contract you have with them will state you are paying them for a service, if you don't have that service you should not be paying for it.

I just dont think it's acceptable, Im paying for a service, If they dont provide the service then why should I pay.

The contract you have signed with them probably allows a certain amount of downtime. Check the T's and C's and then make a complaint.

Call them and ask, is it really that hard?

I have never known a company give an honest answer when asked can I refuse to pay you.

Ken, possession is 9 tenths of the law, if you can put them in a situation where they have to chase you for payment then you stand a good chance.

If however you're going to be looking for a refund, it might not be so easy.

Well I can only go on my experience with VM and everytime I have asked for compensation for non service they have been exceedingly forthcoming in reducing my bill the following month, which while not exactly a refund is almost as good as. Either way a simple phone call is all it takes to see what their stance is rather than asking random people the majority of whom live on a different continent whether it's viable or not.
