Ordered a new Vauxhall Today,

2009_Vauxhall_Insignia2.jpg

That looks quite nice actually.

early reviews etc are putting it very close to the mondeo and miles away from the old vectra. Not a bad choice imo :) enjoy

Options were limited...

VXR Styling Kit
Bluetooth
Fog Lights
Leather
Adaptive Lights
Parking Sensors...

Thats about it... in no big fan of leather, maybe if free id be happy, otherwise no.

(Axeboy on mates account)

Options... I misunderstood.

Other car options were basically:

Honda Civic
Golf/Passat
Mondeo/Focus
Mazda3/5/6
BMW 1
Merc CLC thing
Audi A3 Sportback etc
Nissan X trail/Quashqueer
Toyota Auris/Avensis
Volvo s40/v50

Etc etc etc

However, my top choices pre Oct were the Mazda 6 Sport and the Mondeo 2.2 Titanium X. Since the car market changes tho, these have been dropped of the list and the 1.8 TDCi Titanium was the same option as the Insignia I chose.

Personally having driven the mondeo 1.8 TDCi titanium, i was unimpressed with the power and interior. The mazda was nice enough, but I still wanted a bit more power.

Other main contendor for me was the Audi 2.0TDi sportback, but I test drove that a few days ago and it wasnt great. Not powerful enough, and really quite basic spec. So that fell off the list.

I think I'd have rather had the BMW 120d M Sport and a paper bag for my head. I'd get over its uglyness because its other talents are amazing.

Yes an F430, but In that class of car without knowing how it drives who's to say.....

It's an unknown quantity and I'd not want to order an unknown quantity if I had to live with it for 3 years if it turned out to be yet another Vauxhall.

Their track record is appalling. It might be great but I'd want to see for myself before I comitted myself to it.

18 months or so ago there was a lot of movement of design talent between Vauxhall, Saab and Subaru. The is the net result - terrible Imprezas, terrible Saabs and decent Vauxhalls.

Get used to it.

Why would someone who is looking at larger saloons choose a 1 series which is, as nice as it is, somewhat more cramped. Unless I have misread the thread.

I went out in the Mazda 6 recently and it is nice as well.

That company car list is very similar to ours although we get the Saab Vector Sport (with the 180 ttid) and 123 Msport.

And the Insignia looks nice imo and sure beats the Vectra which took the approach of keeping Vaxualls 1980s customers happy with blandness and understatedness since well 1980.
