Cheap(er) X58 board?

The asus on the ocuk website is pretty expensive. I had it in my basket since it first appeared on the website and when it came in stock, it had gone up in price. Can't really blame them though with the conversion rate and all but still...

I can't wait to see some more motherboards available, hopefully that will drive [rices down a bit.

Considering these are 1366 board then aimed at the enthusiasts squarely with an enthusiasts price tag.

Affordable will be when the mid-range i7 launches on the non-overclocking socket next year.

I just couldn't justify spending over £200 on just a mobo i thought i had been extravegent paying £140 for one. Add in the cost of ram and the cpu and it is twice the price of what my setup now cost me way too much and if intel want it to catch on prices need to come tumbling down and i think they will 6-8 months after release. I think this will be highly priced to get the cash from early adopters who are not going to be as numerous as in the past and then they will bring prices down so it can be considered as a normal upgrade for the masses.

Hate to burst your bubble but with current exchange rates plus VAT even a straight conversion gets you to £203 and that is the "budget" option??????

You must be using a harsh exchange rate! Using 1.6 and then adding VAT brings it under £200. I'm not saying that this is a budget option... just cheaper than offerings such as the Asus boards.

SOrry not keeping up with daily exchnage rates. It was only 1.51 the other day so things have improved a lot since then

This is silly. Why have these motherboards on sale and not the RAM+CPU required for it?!

I'll get this set up, when they skip the overpriced release costs.
