Help, what to do... (hole + me = gone)

Was just walking along my road, took 2 steps off the pavement to look out across the village where i live then woooooosh, i disappeared.

No cones, signs, tape, chains or anything. Just one big hole, about 4/5 deep. I landed on my feet but fell forward and put my hand out to stop me. Ended up covered in mud with a sore wrist.

What can i do? Can i complain to anyone or anything.

Any help appreciated!

Do it again, only this time topple forward and don't put anything out infront of you to break your fall. You might end up hurt and badly bruised, but physical pain fades, a compensation payout lasts for however long it takes you to drink it.

If I were you I'd go back and set up a camera, because it sounds like there could be lots of other people doing the same.

It was pitch black, hole couldn't be seen

What can i do? Can i complain to anyone or anything.

First - be responsible, go outside stick/tie a CLEAR sign so it doesnt happen to anyone else.. Happening to elderly person may not be such a comical scenario.

Second - Speak to the local parish council. I'm sure someone will be happy to go and make sure it is dealt with.

Complain to someone... only if you think your life is long enough to waste that time. See the event for what it was - one of those life experiences.. - Brush your self off, and get on with life chuckling about what happened.

I would think complaing to the council would be a start.... If no warning are there obviously it breaks health and safety but more importantly the next person may not be so lucky.
