Hey all, sorry about this thread, know you must get a lot each day, I've been looking over the tutorials and just wanted to make 100% sure I know what to do with mine, and te increments I need to take it up in!

Asus P5N-E SLi - Default bios
E6300 - Stock w/ Noctua NH-U12P
Corsair Modular PSU 620W
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2

All is currently running fine and normal at stock, current cpu temps of 29-31c idle, about 47-48 full load.

I'd be looking to just start with a gradual OC, i'm not really looking to get speed records or anything overly high end, even if I can start by pushing it up to 2.2 and then 2.5/2.8 would be nice, I know a lot of people have pushed them a lot further, but I'm not sure if I'm one of the people with the mentality to do that! :D

From what I can see, the basic steps i'd need to take in the bios would just be unlinking cpu & ram, and then setting the FSB fromthere (Currently 1066 I believe) :)

Sorry about the noobishness of this, a friend tried the other day and blew his motherboard he thinks (He posted it on here I believe).

Any other advice/tips would be welcomed, would the voltage need adjusting at all? Cpu Voltage is currently hovering at 1.296/1.312 in cpu-z.

Thanks!

Make sure your drivers are up to date too.

Your PSU is excellent which is the first step on the path to successful overclocking :)

11.43am!!!

Some of us have to go to work mate.:D

Let me know what clock you've achieved so far and we'll take it from there mate :)

hehe, oops, yeah, starting a new job next week I hope :D

Was basically just wanting to check what I said was correct really, upgrade drivers/bios, unlink ram & cpu and set FSB in the bios from 1066 to say 1200 for a starting point?

Yep - try that. If it crashes, knock the voltage up to the CPU by just a couple of increments and make sure the RAM is set using the dividers/ FSB ratio :)

The most pathetic, nooby OC ever! But hey, it worked (Would have been a VERY sorry state of affairs, had it not!)

nooby-1.jpg

Set the RAM to 5-5-5-18 from 6-6-6-31 and its now at 391mhz?
