An LPG explosion is much more dangerous than a petrol explosion, because of BLEVE. In fact, it's supposedly 100 times more dangerous according to the COMAH regulations. (Control of Major Accidents and Hazards)

How safe are LPG systems anyway? I imagine all it would take is a hefty rear-ender and BOOM!

IIRC you cannot take them on the channel tunnel.

I imagine it'd have to be a hefty shunt anyway - enough to seriously knacker the spare wheel well.
