8800 GT 512mb or 9800 GT 512mb?

I believe they are practically the same, but I have seen most benchmarks put the 9800GT about 5% ahead. So may have a little addition over the 8800GT but nothing significant. I'd only go for a 9800GT if the price increase was less than £8 or so

They are essentially the same only the 9800GT has support for tri-sli and stuff... although as the poster above said benchmarks usually show a very minor performance advantage to the 9800GT.

Reason i ask is that i have seen this for £81 which includes delivery!!

512MB Palit 9800 GT, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), 1800MHz GDDR3, GPU 600MHz, 112 Cores, 2xDL DVI-I/ HDTV

Is that good?

The only way a 9800GT will be better in benchmarks than the 8800GT is if different driver versions are used or if the card is factory overclocked. Otherwise they should be exactly the same.

Basically the same as said above, the 9800 GT is just an 8800 GT with an extra SLi connector so it can be TRi-SLi'd.

Just picked mine up the other day for £81, trading up from 7800gt to the card you mentioned, can't argue with the price/performance great card.

Sorry to bump an old thread but this seemed a relevant place to post. I have an Inno3d 9800GT 1gb and wanted to add the akasa vortexx neo mentioned above, but it isn't listed in the official support list of cards on the akasa website..

GeForce 9800 GTX +
GeForce 9800 GTX
GeForce 9800 GTS
GeForce 9600 GT

etc

will it fit correctly without any hassles or not? anyone have the neo fitted to a 9800GT?

I know that the AC Accelero Xtreme 9800 VGA Cooler that will fit.
