Behind you... Naked!
Every version of Windows ( and other O/Ses out there ) have skins and themes etc to make them look like another.

There is nothign wrong with that and its great sometimes...

What has made me laugh out loud the last couple of days is that I have seen Windows XP running a Vista skin and some other junk to make it look and feel a bit like Vista, but then its got an XP Theme applied to it??

What the hell is the point of that???

Similarly, Im not better...

My Atari Falcon is Running MagicOS & Jinnee Desktop and its got OSX Skin to look and feel like a Mac's OS-X and my Mac is running a GEM Skin to make that look like my old Atari ??? WTF?

Sorry, but just some silly things I have noticed.

I don't understand what you mean. An XP machine with a Vista theme and a XP theme on top? Surely that's just XP?

Well, yes, completely retarded or what?

Its kind of like an XP user running Vista Inspirat to make it look a bit Vista-y but then theming it with the XP DEfault theme??? - Utterly ludicrous, but cool too!??!?!

ENGLISH ****** ******!!! DO YOU SPEAK IT?!!

Why whats up?

My Atari Falcon's Operating system is MAGIC
I am also running the JINNEE Desktop as my Environment.

Exactly the same as saying my PC's Operating System is LINUX
and I am also running the GNOME Desktop as its Environment.

So, your point is what?

No point, hence the sillyness in the title to aid in helping users to conclude that the thread has no point other than to have a giggle at really.

If you find it silly, then thats fine, if not, then thats fine too... Its not supposed to be anything?

Ah, I never saw the "sillyness" in the title. :)

Guess you mean people like me who have their Windows XP looking like this.

I suppose so yes, but the thing is, that its XP and it looks like XP but its also running Vista Inspirat to make it look like Vista, and then something else that Im assuming is Windows blinds,to give it an XP theme?

Can they work together?

Anyway, its not my PC but I will sure ask about a screenie for sure...

People still use XP?
That's sillyness all in itself.

Yes, but the number of people who use XP v the number of people who use Vista and you will find that XP users are still well over 90%

Personally, I find it sillyness for people to spend money on somehting that will not make the slightest bit of difference to their computer than what XP can do!

So someone's using a Vista theme on XP, but applying an XP theme over it? You're not making any sense!

No, its no sense at all is it, but its not me, its a PC I saw the other day.

Its funy because it looks like Vista with an XP theme, but it is in fact XP.

It actually looks kind of cool... You know how Windows Media Center has a slightly different look to it than normal XP does... Well, its kind of like that in a way...

I will try to go and get a screen grab ok...

My DFI CFX3200-DR would pause randomly in XP for up to a minute & was a known problem on DFI-Street as soon as i put Vista 64 on it it that problem was solved completely.

A friend of mine who was using XP for years then vista HP trial & back to XP with a Vista theme.
Came into work last week & said Oh My God ! Vista is so much faster after installing Vista HP trial again & more responsive than XP, my programs now start up instantly on Vista & he is using a A8R32-MVP Deluxe, AMD Opty [email protected], 4GB Ram, HIS 3870 gfx.

He now wants me to buy him Vista 64 HP.

My self have seen a improvement with the look of the GUI & using less CPU & Superfetch & being able to use more than 3.5 GB of ram.
Being able to use more than 2 GPU,s in crossfire & not having my over clocked gfx cards taking down the OS every time because the drivers are not as close to the kernel like in XP when i OC to much.

I like Windows Media Center that comes with it & would have never even thought about getting a hauppauge WinTV-HVR-4000 if it was not for WMC being there in the first place & running it by pure mistake & now i could not go without it.

I also like the vista voice control as i can do things from my bed with my headset on by just speaking.

Because of vista i now do not use any 3rd party SW firewall or Anti virus.

The sidebar is a feature that i would not go without again.

The fact that some of these features can be bought or a are freely available for XP is not the point, the point is that i did not use them like most because they were not already there & the worry of compatibility & conflicts.

Try this on for size:

Someone from our course last year had a notebook with a 'Vista-style' theme on it, Drive capacity bars under Explorer, and all the icons, sounds, and cursors changed to look like Vista. Now, that wouldn't be too bad that he was running XP, and making it LOOK like Vista, but it was the fact that he tried so hard to convince people that it was Vista xD

Does that on a couple of mine too! - XP64 Cured it.

A Fresh install of any O/S - even his current XP32 would have shown it to be faster than his current setup because its a clean install.

The RAM issue has nothign to do with Vista over XP but 64Bit over 32 Bit.
Had you used XP64 youd have seen the full RAM and had you gone with Vista32 youd still be missing it.

Ok Thats true, Im on the verge of looking into that now myself, however, its a very small minority of users who can and do use more than 2 GPUs.

Media Center is NOT vista only, sure it comes as standard, but then Windows MCE has it standard too, or you can simply add it to Home or Pro!!!

Thats new to me? - I gotta have a look into that...

Not used any for the last 3 years either thats not Vista. Again, its a 64Bit O/S beign more secure than a 32Bit one, plus a Hardware firewall built into any half decent router, coupled with common sense and not opening up emails telling me that I have once again won a yet another lottery!!!

The sidebar is a feature that i would not go without again.

Funny one that... With XP, and indeed Linux, I have one... Yet on my Vista Machine, i have switched it off??? - Go figure?

The fact that some of these features can be bought or a are freely available for XP is not the point, the point is that i did not use them like most because they were not already there & the worry of compatibility & conflicts.

Hmmm... Ok.

With compatibiliy, I have found a fair number of things that I have not yet managed to get running in Vista64 and they run perfectly fine in XP64.
This is now the 8th time that I have instaled Vista onto my Main machine and I have had a number of hiccups but they have stopped since dropping from 4 clients of FAH down to just 2... XP64 handled 4 just fine and has done for over a year since getting my first Quad core, but Vista has not. Small issue but cured easily. Vista is now runnign very well indeed and the few thigns that dont play ball, I have ignored... They might work by now I dont know, but Im not going out looking for problems like I have done in the past and this setup is running sweet as a nut.

I do however have XP64 on standby, its just that Im at blue alert now ( Cos I cant be bothered to change the bulb )

Snipy-snip

it was the fact that he tried so hard to convince people that it was Vista xD

Now thats just sad...

Confession, but years ago, my mate bought Win2K and I had just recently bought ME ( Dont laugh )

Anyway, Windows 2000 and Windows Me look very much like each other in many ways.

I tried to make out that mine was Windows 2000 too, I had the Start bar and the button like Win2K and I even had the Windows 2000 boot up screen ( Without the scroller though )

He knew and caught me out by bringing over a HD that was formatted in NTFS with some stuff on it for me... the git.

The thing is, that you can try and try and try but you are really just looking more and more stupid every second you keep on the B/S
