Who is going to use these NXE features?

Just curious.

1) Loading games to HDD
The main benefits are no noise from the DVD drive (Most fans deny the noise is an issue so I wonder if they would install to HDD). And a slight load time decrease (again something that most people said they didn't care about if it meant long install times to compensate, I think games take 11 mins to install).

I will use this from day 1, always complained about the silly noise from the 360 drive. Load times don't bug me as much, but I think them and DVD issues are to blame for some games not loading quick enough (GTA4, SR, Fable 2 off the top of my head).

2) Avatars
I think these are used in some games instead of your gamertag icon (and being retroactively added to some old titles). Apart from this I don't think there is anything functional in the dashboard that uses the Avatars.

Unlikely to use this, bar create a generic avatar with jeans and t-shirt on. DEFINITELY NOT paying for any clothes etc crap. Even in games I am not one to dress up my character. (Curious as to what all he HOME haters are going to do, as this is mandatory on 360, whereas HOME is optional on PS3, unsure on Miis).

(There are other features but these are the main functional ones that will affect your games playing experience imo).

1, without doubt. I hate the constant noise of the CD drive and also I may actually use the 100gb drive I have then.

both most likely might get an elite after xmas as i dont think my 20gb hd has much room left :(

My 360 is a first gen one (yes it has lasted for this long!). The fans are so loud, it's just as bad as the DVD drive. I don't think installing to disk will help much. I'd probably do it anyway if it saves me the extra 2 seconds load time.

I won't be spending extra money on my dashboard features. I only really use my 360 to play games so don't spend much time on the home screen anyway!

This might sound daft but I haven't been following 360 goings on since mine died and I bought a PS3.

What would stop someone buying a game, copying it to HD then taking it back to the shop?

You still need the disc to run the game, it just stops the drive being used as much.

I'll definitely be using the save to HDD feature, I've bought myself a 120GB drive in preparation.

The disc needs to be in the drive to play, but after it's checked it it won't need to spin up again

edit: I knew I should have refreshed the page to see if there were any replies before posting one :p

I don't play games on my 360 these days because I'm waiting for NXE so I can use option 1. I've got loads to play once I can eliminate the racket from the DVD drive. I'll probably spend some minutes designing an avatar that looks like me but I won't be spending any money on accessories or daft things like that.

To be honest the noise from the drive has never really been an issue for me, it is loud but my surround sound will drown it out. However after playing a fair few demos recently I must admit that I like how much quieter it is without the drive spinning. Can't wait to install games now.

I'll definitely take the time to make a decent avatar, but won't spend money on clothes, but will use the stuff from achievements if that does happen.

hdd installs. Noise of fans are quite loud...tempted at times to smother the ****** thing..

However xbox live and general menus of the dashboard are pretty good and intuitive - a country mile ahead of PSN in this regard imo.

I notice your posts on the 360 are almost always negative, but ignoring that...

If I am forced to make an avatar (which I detest) I will just make a stupid one that has as little resemblance to a person as possible. The Save to HDD option will be great to improve that already good loading times on games I play regularly and prevent optical drive wear.

A key feature you missed relating to social gaming is the group voice chat which will be a godsend for me.
