Mirrors Edge Demo on PSN 30th Oct, 31st XBL

This is one game I'll definitely be getting, which says a lot because I was determined not to get any more what with Dead Space, Fallout 3, Fable II and Fifa 09 all vying for my attention. Mirrors Edge feels quite different to anything that has been released recently. The game it most reminds me of is Jet Set Radio on the Dreamcast, but with a lot more immersion and freedom. My one criticism would be that the controls could do with being a bit tighter. They are tricky at first but once you get used to them the game really starts to come alive.

After a few goes at the demo I feel this may be one where you end up playing a very short game over and over again- but in a good way, each time trying to better yourself, knowing the route and running through the level more fluidly.

Thought it was good for about 5 minutes then became far to frustrating with unresponsive controls.

They feel unresponsive at first, however after playing it through a couple of times you realize it's all about timing. Now i've got the controls down i can complete the demo without stopping at all tbh.

Just played this yesterday and I have to say, I was blown away at how original this game is. The first time I picked up a weapon, I didn't even want to use it, instead I just dumped it and kept running. What other game makes you throw away guns and just make you want to escape? I think we are all getting bored of shooters, Mirrors Edge is like a breath of fresh air.

Absolutely amazing game.

Well, I'll be honest and say in my comparison between the 2, it was 2 different televisions. But I can't believe there's enough here to say one looks better than the other! haha.

From what I saw, There were differences, ever so slight. But not differences that mean bad or worse, Just different. For example her arms seems a little brighter on 360

I think they don't want you using the guns tbh they make you run slower for a start so you're a bit of a sitting duck with them.

Didn't seem to be able to run and do as many moves either.

I'm having a hard time getting my head around the title of the game, it sounds gay.

Will play the demo later though. :p

I think this is a purchase for PS3. It's getting exclusive DLC.

Wouldn't make a big deal about it to be honest, the DLC will probably be out when everyone has lost interest, HEY GTA IV.

I can't get over how much more embodied I feel in Mirror's Edge compared to other shooters. Simply running around takes on a whole new meaning as i'm worried i'll bash my body on something - a body that isn't there in other games. Leaping off buildings is genuinely nerve wracking!

Hopefully other developers will take note and make the era of being a floating camera with a gun attached underneath a thing of the past.

I found the 360 version to looks a little less jaggy and the analogue sticks to be much better.

Spot on mate. First time I disarmed someone and started shooting it didn't feel right so I jumped off the building (looking down while doing this actually gives you a tiny sense of what it would be like to fall 100ft) and next time round I dropped the gun and kept on running which was not only quicker but more fun too.

Credit to the developers for making a game where running away is more fun than shooting people :D

demo could have been a little longer was a very good game though and i will be getting it. Although is it just me or does it seriously need some AA!

Just played, completely awesome game. Although I'll wait to see the reviews commenting on length then either wait for bargain bin or get it for christmas.

One thing I did notice, everytime I fall off a building, the look and the noise is just horrible! Really goes through me hearing her body slap the ground or a wall when you jump into it!

As someone already said, I think the lasting appeal will be trying to better yourself/friends in how quick you can do a level and what tricks etc you learn from each other. Completing it is one thing, but doing it without stopping would be awesome

Not as nasty as jumping Lara off huge cliffs in Tomb Raider though :p

Hmm is anyone feeling like me?

Its a demo with very limited span (unlike FIFA 09 where you could play the demo loads of time without boredom) but I keep coming back to it to play...

I dno why since in reality you literally only have 5mins of 'linear' gameplay - I want the time trial before I even consider buying it - damn you EA  (yes I know Im being ironic)...

The demo is short, but you can complete it in different ways, as you learn the game more.

My only problem is the £40 pricetag all xbox games come with, if xbox and ps3 games were the same pricing as PC (IE <£30) then I'd have no worries preordering. :/

I was just going to add that when I went to look for pricing - £38 is the cheapest  - I got FIFA 09 for less than £35. Under £30 and I would too - makes the PC version more tempting...
