4870 problem ( i hope not )

looks like the memory is overheating.If you can, try and set the fan to higher speed using rivatuner for example. Set the fan speed to about 50%-60% max and rerun some games to check.
 
fan is set to 55% always
just tried it again with deadspace this time, and squares again :-(
what would cause this ? its worked great til now
 
Mine did that, artefacts appear and whole PC freezes. After returning it for a full refund, later stumbled across a thread with people having same issue. It could be due to the 2D clocks not changing to 3D. Happened without fail for me on Guild Wars.

Google that, I'm sure someone found a fix for it.
 
does anyone know the deal with RMA's
how long it takes and what happens ?
was bought 02 sept this year ( 2months ) from a very popular online shop
ive filled out my rma form online now i have to call them in the morning, what happens from there
 
If its the one I'm thinking of, you call them...they waste ** time going through a script and u basically tell them its knackered over and over, then I think they give u this thing to print off and then you package it up and send it to them.

It doesn't take too long at the one I'm thinking of, the RMA procedure. 1-2 weeks to get your new one. They refund your postage.

Oh btw is it the PCS or one with a 3rd party cooler. Sometimes the RAM isn't cooled sufficiently, if you can't be bothered with the RMA try underclocking the RAM to 3.5Ghz or so especially if you have a warm case temp. try it with that, if same happens its definitely knackered.

You could also try setting the stock clocks in riva tuner, so it stays at 3d clocks. I haven't read any threads on this 2d to 3d clock problem, but if it doesn't happen when you do that might be that.

yes indeed
just ran ati tool and its picking up artifacts at stock speeds now !
when i speak to the tomorrow do i mention stuff like ati tool etc etc
dont want to say anything that will jepordise my rma
