After a lot of searching, ive decided to get the MSI P43 NEO F IP43 motherboard for just over £50. Will it be compatible with 4gb Corsair TwinX XMS2 DDR2 PC2-6400(800) 240 pin memory? Also will an E5200 fit in it? I'll post its specs in a minute.

I've been reading a few articles on certain boards only recognising the DC e5200 as a single processor despite the mobo being a socket 775 and taking 45nm. I've been having dark thoughts about going AMD after all. I'm really struggling to find a board thats 50-60 quid and definitely takes a DC e5200 without issues.

I would'nt touch that board. I have had the misfortune of having a P31 Neo-F and a P35 Neo-F and i have to say that they are the cheapest nastiest bug ridden pieces of rubbish i have ever used. Both were rapidly returned.

I got a brand new Gigabyte P35 DS3R off the bay this week, still sealed and everything, for £33 delivered. It was even a buy it now with 12 month retailer warranty. My E5200 is in it and clocked to 3.6Ghz. Cracking board. You just need to look around.

I'm also considering the Asus P5QL Pro for £59. I'm just so confused regarding the Core2 Duo E5200. Is it just the same as an Intel Pentium E5200?

That would be a better choice although it has a terrible layout. Just look at where the power sockets are.

Don't feel guilty about leaving AMD. Brand loyalty is foolish and they certainly have no customer loyalty. People should just buy the best bang for buck at the time. It does'nt matter who makes it.

It'll have to do. :) It looks decent value for £59. The only other option is the Gigabyte GA P31 ES3G IP31 for £44. I'll be getting the Corsair TwinX XMS2 DDR2 PC2-6400(800) 240 pin RAM after hearing mixed messages about OCZ. That's compatible with the 2 boards I mentioned isn't it?

Also, could I get a 4850 on both of these boards without it impeding any other slots?

I would go for the P43 board then. If you have a single slot 4850 then it will be fine. If you have a double slot one then you will lose the pci-e x1 slot which i doubt that you have anything that uses it anyway.
