Hopefully going to be getting a new tv in the next few days.

Im unsure about the size, so i have a few questions.

Its for my room, which i have a double bed and sofa just over 2.5m from where the tv will sit.

I want to connect a ps3 to it, and will be watching blu ray movies, along with normal non hd tv.

So the 2 questions:

1: What size would be best for me.
2: If i went for a 32" would i notice a massive differance between 720p/1040p with a ps3 connected.

(I should add i have a budget of around £600 quid, although i could get a 720p 32" for a good bit cheaper)

With a 32" I shouldn't imagine you'd notice the difference, with a 37" maybe you would :) I have a 37" and I sit a similar distance away. Mine is a Panny plasma and native 720p but it looks fantastic.

I would be looking at least 37" for that distance, preferably 42".

Stick with Panasonic though, the 42" is available for <650, admittedly not with a 5 year warranty.

Another perhaps NOOBIE question:

If i connect a ps3 to a 720p/1080p tv, whats the actual differance?

Will i see less on a 720p, or will the 1080p picture be scalled down to the lower resolution?

Also, blu ray, whats the native resolution?

The difference is simply the resolution, the amount of detail you'll see from a given distance, that's all. At the distance you'll be using it it won't make any visable difference.

1080p.

Well the PS3 will render most games at a resolution closer to 720p than 1080p. However most HD-Ready TVs are 1024x768 (I think) so a 720p signal will have to be scaled by the TV too. There is probably very little difference in image quality between a PS3 ouputting 720p to a HD-ready TV compared to 1080p to an equivalent Full-HD TV.

Blu-ray of course is a different matter. Maybe it is better to output 1080p and let the TV scale it down.
