Anyone offer some help on this please:

I've gotta travel tomorrow from Waltham Abbey (Mariott Hotel) to Kingston, to be Kingston no later than 14:00.

Tried to work it out myself but having all sorts of problems as there's several stations in Waltham Abbey and all this Northern Line, Picadilly Line, Waterloo and all that is way beyond me!

What's the best time to leave Waltham Abbey and a good easy route to Kingston for me?

Cheers.

Train from Waltham Cross to Liverpool Street.

Central Line Tube one stop to Bank.

Waterloo & City Line one stop to Waterloo.

Train to Kingston.

No idea how long it will take, but I'd give it a couple of hours at least.

Edit: Liverpool Street to Kingston is about and hour and Waltham Cross to Liverpool Street is about half an hour. You'd have to check the frequency of the trains from Waterloo and Waltham Cross though.

National Rail reckons Waltham Cross to Tottenham Hale, then Victoria Line to Vauxhall where you can get a train to Kingston. They reckon 1hr 39mins but that has almost an hour to get from Tottenham to Vauxhall whereas in reality it's about 45 mins tops so overall journey time should be less than 1.5 hours.

Reckon leave 2 hours, possibly even 2.5 to account for delays as you can always grab a sandwich or something in Kingston if you get there early.

I live basically in the area where you are staying. Public transport in Waltham Abbey is dire. Get yourself to Waltham Cross to get into Liverpool Street. If you want to do that cheaper, then get yourself to Turkey Street, one stop down the line, but is inside Zone 5, making the fare much lower.

TFL Journey Planner is very useful. Google it.

I'd still go the Liverpool Street / Waterloo way. If you are wiating for a train (and want to buy a sandwich or something) then it's much better to be at Waterloo than Vauxhall.

There is nothing at Vauxhall other then a eight damp, windswept platforms that chill you to the bone.

You'll end up on exactly the same train whether you go to Vauxall or Waterloo.

Is there still no interchange at Bank because of the escalator work? Bit of a PITA to go overland, Central line, up out of Bank and back down for the W&C line?

If you go Liverpool St way, just walk to Bank, it's like 5 minutes plus you get to see a few nice buildings (Royal Exchange, Bank of England etc)

Not sure, I tend to walk between LS and Bank. However, I've got a few colleages that take the tube so I assume you can interchange.
