OP, why didn't you just ring a family member or someone and get them to bring you the spare keys? I'd rather that than have my car damagedThat's unless of course you only have one set of keys..
Dropped my dad off at the airport a couple of years ago, so borrowed his slushbox Accord as it has way more space for luggage etc. Wave him off, get back to the car park, get in the car, turn the key - nothing. Ignition lights on, but ziltch from the starter motor. Ho hum, popped the bonnet, checked everything I could but still no joy.
40 mins later, the very nice man from the AA couldn't stop sniggering as he told me if you leave an automatic in gear rather than park/neutral it won't let you start the motor.
Worst thing was, I have to cough an extra £5 for parking as my exit ticket had expired.
I'm paranoid about this as mine seems to lock itself after a random time. Fortunately there's a cable under the car to release the boots, but if it's in the cabin - I'm buggered.
surely anyone who knew about that model of car and had the wrong intentions could abuse it?
i'd be more worried about how easily greenflag broke into your car
Ask anyone from the AA/GreenFlag/whatever and most cars are pretty easy to break into. Anybody drive an E60 5 series?
Always comedy when going to visit my parents in Cyprus... they used to have an old Mitsubishi Spacewagon, with the indicators on the other side of the steering wheel to the cars I've had in this country...
Sometimes when driving first thing in the morning, I'll change gear with a dip of the clutch and - instead of slotting neatly into the next one - completely forget and let the gears bounce of each other for a while...
