Classic dumb-ass thing I did

Reversed into my own house when running late! (for an Advanced Driving Course)

I've only lived here 28 years.

ahaha:p

I've reveresed into a gate before. New tail-light and bumper required:o

I've also set off with the handbrake on, got into 2nd gear too:p (CTR EP3 handbrake is poor).

only 3 things that i can remember.
reversed into a wall, resulting in this

and locked my keys in the car...in the ignition, took me from lunch till the end of my shift at work, then spend 30mins after work breaking into my car, ending in me getting bored and smashing the window then driving to homebase to replace it with perspex :)

...and im still driving the same car 2 years on :)

Locked my keys in the car (in the ignition all day)
Ran out of fuel
Put oil in my car, forgot to replace the oil car, drove 30 miles
Ran out of electricity
Ran out of fuel again

Well, that's the last two weeks....

putting petrol in my car at night, i proceeded to drive off and after about a mile, wondered why i was being flashed, i'd only forgotten to turn my headlights on :D

i parked facing downwards on a hill so i thought it would be a good idea to leave it in reverse. I park up, apply the handbrake and put it into reverse ... GRRRINDCLUNK! the whole car jerked backwards and stalled. I forgot to turn the engine off :(

Yeah I've managed to forget the engine was running a couple of times and wondered why the car's suddenly lurched forwards. Always feel a little bit stupid after that :p

Got up late for work hungover. Ran out the house, into my car...

Then reversed into next doors wall. :(

Also did the hand brake thing... stalled it once, revved harder and pulled off. managed to drive a few hundred metres. totally bust my hand brake and it stopped workign all together. Its still in a garage all getting fixed as part of mot :(

That is brilliant, made me chuckle! :)

My mum parked on a hill once. She claims the handbrake failed and the car rolled down the hill and into someones living room wall (much destruction was had), I still reckon she just forgot to engage the brake.

When I were younger and I first passed I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to drive my dads car (a relatively new mondeo at the time). I had so much bad luck with the thing including:

-sliding on ice at 30mph into the kerb and mashing his brand new alloys.
-reversing out of my GF's drive and putting the front wing into the hedge thus removing the wing mirror and denting the wing.
-reversing into a small post and putting a long crack in the length of the rear bumper.

My dad was so fed up with me destroying his car he bought me a nice little Peugeot 205 to smash up instead. As soon as I got it I managed to swing it onto the bottom of the drive and into the rear of his mondeo with the corner of my rather sollid bumper. This finished off the huge crack I had put in his rear bumper previously and also finished off his anger (for rage) at my school boy driving :D

That paragraph made me laugh out loud with a mouthful of popcorn...what a mess, but well worth it :D

LMAO :D

The evening before a big exam I had this June I popped to Tesco with O/H. Came out, got back in car and turned ignition...nothing. Tried 4/5 times, engine was completely dead. Phoned parents, but they were unable to pick me up. Spent 10 mins frantically trying to figure out what was wrong with car as had some material I needed to go over for the exam the next morning, and needed the car as well! Phoned insurance breakdown line and the conversation with the lady on the other end of the line finished something like this;

Her: What colour is the car?
Me: Blue
Her: Is it a manual or automatic?
Me: Its an automatic.......... ..... oh, I just tried the ignition again and the engine came on...not to worry...thanks bye.

Was too embarressed to admit that in my hurry I had left it in Drive when I arrived at Tesco, hence why the flipping car wouldn't start! Huuuuuge sigh of relief, and the commencement of much laughing and name calling from O/H at my expense. Found out later that I still managed to pass the exam!

Guess that wasn't the first time they had had that happen though.

drove a megane for my first month of motoring with the automatic headlights, and when i got my own car spent about the first week driving at night with no lights on.

i dont understand how a indicators being the other side effects gear change? my car and my driving intructors where different sides, just meant i couldnt change gear while seletcing to indicate at the same time. - edit. didnt realise the two parts werent connected

also we had a rental car, mum was driving it with dad in the front and reverse was next to 1st gear, neither mum or dad could select reverse (something like left up the gearstick :S) so had to push the car back out of the space.

Probably because I didn't explain it very well. The two issues are un-related. One happens on a semir regular basis (about four times a year), the other happens on holiday in Cyprus...
