7.1 HDMI - Motherboard or 4650?

A friend of mine is after a HTPC, I’ve got one myself but he’s after 7.1 True DD over HDMI (he has a separate AMP that can handle True DD). As I’m not clued up on 7.1 can anyone offer advice?

I guess its one of the below?

Motherboard with onboard Video and 7.1 (does one exist?).

Or

Cheapish motherboard and through in a 4650 / 4670?

Any help appreciated.

go for a 4000 series card. easiest way, and offers upgrades. and also can use 1 cable instead of both HDMI and sound cable
