Looking at the following films on Blu Ray and wonder whether people had any recomendations for putting a 40" 1080p LCD through is paces

I'm looking at :
Goodfellas
Apocalypto
Happy Feet (for the Mrs)

I've pre order Batman Dark Knight, but can't wait that long to test...

Planet Earth, Casino Royale, 2001: Space Odyssey, Blade Runner are just some of the ones i have seen that look amazing. Very highly recommended.

Blood Diamond I found to be very good. Especially the ending.
Black Hawk Down has its moments. (Sound up loud ofc!) one to get the missus out of the room :p

In no order some great Blu-Rays I own
Bladerunner Final Cut
Independence day
Black Hawk Down
Iron Man
3:10 to Yuma
The Rock
Casino Royale
Blood Diamond

Just a few that stand out from my collection.

On order I have:
Band Of Brothers: Limited Edition Collectible Tin (5 Discs) (Blu-ray) - got the DVD Tin already but really can't wait for this!
The Matrix Trilogy (3 Discs) (Blu-ray) Don't have any of the DVDs!
Batman: The Dark Knight (2 Discs) (Blu-ray) Awesomeness

I've got on DVD and reluctant to double up on cost.
Black Hawk Down
Casino Royale
Blood Diamond
Band of Brothers

Transformers I thought was crap as was I am Legend.

Bladrunner I would be temtped with, but I'm worried about it being old and not converting to HD well.

Die Hard 4 looks pretty good too.

Haven't seen that, so could be tempting

If you like the film even a tiny bit it is well worth the money. The Fianl Cut is awesome and remastered on blu-ray is just fantastic. I have watched it 5 or 6 times since buying the ultimate collectors briefcase edition!

Just read this review http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=374&show=review

Such a good movie

Get yourself a LoveFilm subscription and stick everything from this thread on it ;)

Incredible Hulk looked great, as did Iron Man, Independence Day & Beowulf.

Just realising how little Blu-ray I've watched :p

The best picture I've seen was on The Day After Tomorrow in both the "tornados in downtown LA" and "giant wave hits NY" sections. Truly breathtaking!

Cars is a great colour/detail workout.

Close Encounters is a good audio test. The first encounter while the main dude (not sure about his name) is driving shook my whole room with 6 channels of bass rumble- outstanding!

Superman Returns opening credits are a good audio/video mix.

Planet Earth is why HD video was invented.

If you like blues guitar, then I'd recommend John Mayer's disc. Lovely picture but excellent sound detail, particularly with the whole band in the 3rd section of the gig. Similarly, Queen Live at Montreal is beautifully shot and a joy to listen to.
