It's funny you say that yet have an EA game in your best of list.

What about Burnout Paradise (the level of support has been fantastic), Dead Space, FIFA '09, Tiger '09, battlefield BC.

This has been one of the better years for EA games.
 
I would go far enough to say that EA could have potentially published at least two of the best games of the year (certainly Dead Space, possibly Mirrors Edge)
 
Best games I played this year:
Mass Effect PC - Top stuff
MGS4 PS3 - The best game I have played in years
Tomb raider anniversary PC - Good fun, if a little shorter levels than the original

Worst:
GTA4 PS3- Yes it was good but nothing to do once all main missions are done! Also crap framerate and low res - Feels like a half arsed port!
Spore PC- Delay a game so long and yet it is so so shallow and has the gay DRM too.

I also think EA need to stop making rubbish games!!!

Alone in the Dark (buggy and the control system is dire)

Red Alert 3 (on the pc mind)
Fable 2
SSB brawl
Mass Effect was only pc release in 2008 i think, i'll leave it there though.

Worst: (happily i only own one of the games in this list... spore that stupid tripe)

SW Force Unleashed
CoD 5
Spore... oh why oh why did i buy this game... make a fifth of the games i purchased this year the worst decision ever.
 
Best: WpeoutHD, Dead space, GTA 4.

Worst: Everything else.

Longstanding award for best game ever: TF2 !!!!!!
 
I can't understand all the comments about EA. They've published some of the best games of the year, more than any other publisher I can think of. Yes there will be some rubbish too but they're covering so many different markets, there's always going to be something you don't like.

Best for me-
Dead Space - an excellent experience I wasn't expecting.
GTA 4 - peoples graphical complaints are laughable and I enjoyed the newer structure to the game.
FIFA 09 - great step forward
Burnout Paradise - great fun, showing how online can be done well

Hopefulls... Mirrors Edge, LBP

Most Dissapointing-
MGS 4 - Some great moments but some overly tedious cut scenes and missions means I haven't felt the desire to go back to it after that 40 minute cut scene.
Spore - shallow and not much more than a webgame, such a shame.
PGR 4 - single player had so little soul that I didn't even bother with online
GT5:Prologue - should have known, this series of games has felt hollow for a while now

ea had very little to do with the development of rock band though, if you notice i didn't say 100% of ea games.

Fifa 09? Quite possibly best football game I've ever played and NHL 09 got rave reviews as well.

I enjoyed army of two as well.

So EA had little to do with rockband, you could then say the same about battlefield bad company, mercs 2 and spore.
 
Riiiight, this year I have bought many games yet only a few really kept me occupied throughout the year.

Considering the amount of games that have come out this year that's a pretty poor showing, I'd be interested to see what I put for the best of 2007. But COD4 and FIFA 2008 and Tiger Woods 07 kept me going all through the year, the rest of my games have played bit parts.
 
I agree 2008 has been poor for games. Or atleast up til now 2008 has been poor. When I look through my games for 08 on the 360 list it's poor in comparison to previous years.
