I've herd of those new 2.5" 500Gb Samsung harddrives that fit in the PS3 and wondered is 500Gb is just over the top or handy if you get Play TV?

To be honest, only you can answer that. If you got the files to fill it then why not. 500Gb for just PlayTV is a bit over the top.

As previously stated it depends on how you're planning to use it. Keep in mind you can export Play TV recordings to the XMB and transfer them to your PC for storage!

If I were buying today. I'd go for it.

I've only got about a third of my 320gb drive left, PlayTV and films taking the majority of the space.

When I finally get round to getting a dedicated file streaming box, I'll be able to free up a lot of space though.

If you can afford it, why not get it? As said, you can never have too much HDD space and with all the mandatory game install sizes for PS3 games it saves having to worry about not having space for them all.

Id rather get a 320Gb 2.5" for the price and then with the change get an external enclosure and a cheap 3.5" HDD so if you do use up the internal space with PlayTV you can just transfer it to the external HDD which would also work with your PC...

ps3ud0

Luckily Overclockers have them in stock. Link:cool:

Thats how much 120gb drives cost for the 360. :/

I have a 60gb HDD and it fills up before you know it. Since the PS3 has full retail games you can download from PSN, you can never have enough space. Same with the 360, to be honest, 120gb isn't enough for the 360. Since you can download xbox games and install 360 games onto it.

The next batch of consoles should have a 1tb drive. :D
