I can get either phone free from the company and was wondering which one is better.

Which one would you go for if you could get either for free (sim free)?

Got windows mobile on the C600 - its old but works fine for me. I think the N96 has two features on it that do not work in the EU, so im lead to understand from guys at work so id wait for the HTC HD if you can or if not, go for the FTC pro.

IMO of course

N96 - Windows Mobile is instant fail. Never using it again ever.

Never had a problem with WM.. sure it can be a little quirky at times but the quality and usability / features of apps make the N96 look like a toy :)

All the latest WM handsets have pretty good front ends that make it fine..

If you want a phone that can be customized anyway you want just like a normal windows desktop, then WM is the only way..

Unfortunately WM is pretty slow even now. I'd be interested to know what apps WM have the N96 couldn't run? A touch screen OS that requires a stylus is also instant fail (IMO). A touch screen should be about well.. touch :p (Android wins here).

In fact my favorite Symbian app is JoikuSpot (turns your mobile into a wireless hotspot connecting over 3.5G).

This just isn't true at all, I've had my Touch Diamond for 2 months now and never used the stylus, you don't have to, the on screen 9 button keypad works like a normal physical keypad, the icons and menu options are fine using your fingers, and i have big fingers, speed wise with these tweaked roms it flies, its the same as windows for the pc, out the box its ok but with a few reg tweaks it comes alive, apps wise for the WM os the list is endless.

Sorry to go offtopic - Do you have any decent websites with WM apps? Ill be grabbing the Samsung Omnia soon and I wanna see what I can get it to do ;)

Interesting!

I have decided on the HTC Touch Pro and am expecting it tomorrow.

As the Pro is a business phone I may as well go for it from the company and I can get the N96 as an upgrade to my personal contract in a few months...well unless there's something better at the time.

Anyway can't wait!:D

X1 or Pro indeed, I'm getting my X1 tomorrow. I've been a WM user for 4 years now, I have no problems with it.

Also, my mate got an N96 and says it is awful, prefers his old N95.

Got the PRO at about half 4 today so not had much time to play around with it.

First impressions are very good. Looks wise I just love it.

This is my first windows mobile phone so a very new experience. Coming from a viewty I do find it pretty heavy (about 50g more) but have to say the keyboard is great, nice size keys and the touch screen is a million times better then the viewty. Also finally geting a phone with wifi is great.

Overall first impressions: its a brilliant phone!
