I want to stick LCD TV's in a couple of my bathrooms and I wondered if anyone here has done this. I have good walls at the end of 2 of my baths and I want to use these but obviously I don't want to switch it on and DIE!

So can someone please give me some pointers as to plumbing them in, special fabrication advice and general insight?

Cheers
Housey

I have a lcd mounted flush into the tiles at the end of my bathtub. all the cables come out to the room behind.

It's a special waterproof one designed to be water and humidity proof. has a fully submersible remote too.

The speakers are mounted into the ceiling again humidity proof.

have a look on the bay, lots of them there. Makes having a nice bath in the morning so much less of a chore, catch the news, or link upto your media center. -

It's worth doing properly, being electrocuted in the bath would not be any fun, and embarrassing.

I won't be doing it myself I will be getting a specialist company in to do it but I want to try and do me research so I don't get the wool pulled over my eyes, not that they would but I like to do my research before I spend. My talent knows no starts when it comes to DIY so I always get people in and with something like this my opportunity to create instant death is huge.

Good call on the media server though!

Fully submersible remote....hours of fun with that methinks!

Go to a "good" bathroom dealer. They always have them in stock. Ranging from £800 upwards. Like anything you get what you pay for. Just do not think you can just stick any TV in there and it will be ok.

I don't think I can stick any TV in the bathrooms, hence the question.

In a couple of your bathrooms? Howmany bathrooms can one guy have?!
Well I am not putting TV's in all of them ;)

You also use them with electric lawnmowers also... So if you cut the wire, you don't get killed. :)

They are also used in the film industry, as insurance when high powered lights are used outside in the rain.

I have a gardener so I never worried about this sort of thing.......but I now know why 3 have been killed :D

How long do you spend in the bath? Time your bathing to avoid your favourite programmes? Sky+? Any why in both bathrooms? If you know you want a bath and want to watch Eastenders, just go have a bath in the one bathroom you put a telly in. Next you'll be wanting a microwave in the shower.

Wow you're a genius, why didn't I think of that...

To those who have offered advice thank you.

I'm sure if you got someone who knows what they are doing (a good electrician) they will install an RCD... I thought you we're gonna attempt a DIY job from your 1st post for some reason! :o

On the case Mike, I have a friend who is an electrician and I have been pointed towards a number of different companies that specialise in the solutions I seek. One of the bathrooms is easy to sort one is more challenging. I have small LCD's in the bedrooms which adjoin the bathrooms (all en-suite) already, but its not ideal or that safe dragging them to the door each time you have a bath. Our correspondent above may see it as money down the drain or 'look at me' but I need something to slot in alongside the Rice Cooker and Coffee machine or else the bathrooms will look bare with just Bath, Shower, Sink, Toilet and Mixing Deck ;)
