In Mcdonalds today...

This is a site that can give many hours of amusement but is also very factual (allegedly ;) )

http://www.makeupyourownmind.co.uk/

The official QA site for McDonalds. It has such tasty items as -

Q. Is there cow's blood in the strawberry sauce?

A. Firstly many apologies for the slow response to your question, as the site went through a few changes; some questions slipped through the net so thank you for your patience. It sounds like you might be referring to the Strawberry Milkshake syrup? If so there is NO cows’ blood in the strawberry syrup, the ingredients are as follows: Water, Sugar, Glucose Syrup, Strawberry Juice Concentrate, Acidifier (E330 Citric Acid), Strawberry Flavour, Preservative (E202 Potassium Sorbate), Natural Colouring Agent (E162 Beetroot juice concentrate).

Enjoy :)

I tend to agree with you however the meat is wafer thin so there's not much meat in each burger. ;)

Also making claims like
"made using 100% beef - whole cuts of high quality forequarter and flank" and "Nothing is added or taken away from the beef - preservatives, additives, binders or fillers are never used" in their literature would have them dragged over the coals for breaking false advertising or other such laws if it wasn't true.
found that here btw http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/resources/img/sections/eatsmart/Nutrition.pdf

Now I'm not saying McDonalds are angels and their food is healthy to eat all the time but I think they're not half as bad as some make out. In fact burger vans, kebab houses and other such places probably use more products of dubious origin and makeup than McDonalds.

Fair enough, though when I hear quarter pounder I expect the actual meat to be 1/4lb not the whole burger to be so ;) Oh and as for burger vans - you're probably right, which is why I'm relieved I don't ever go to them anymore! :D Mens sana in corpore sano and all that jazz ;)

Fair enough - I eat meat by the lb so it's not really going to do me much good :p Also I hate meat which has been injected with water and preservatives - and as such refuse to buy it!
I hope you don't buy meat from supermarkets then?

I have never had a burger from maccies with gristle or tough bits in. On the other hand the crap some people bring to BBQs may aswell be a gristle burger

You get fat - There really isnt anything to apart from eat nuggets when it is quiet

Ha ha.. we used to nick a slice of cheese and a nugget and then 'go out the back' ;) never used to get breaks so had to go when we could.

Try ordering a Cheeseburger without cheese, then watch the look on the face as they try to work out what to charge you for.;)

I would charge you the same as a cheeseburger. :/

People spitting in food is another myth.

Also it's a far cleaner food preparation environment than 99% of restaurants. It's just one of those places that people seem to enjoy slagging off, despite never working there.

This is true... what is the point? :/

I think working there as your first job is a brilliant deterrent for your future years.. I barely go there now - perhaps only for booze food - chicken sandwich with two slices of cheese to soak up the alcomohol.

Used to enjoy making me own burgers ha ha..

Yesterday in Newcastle McDonalds I ordered my usual Big Mac, two cheeseburgers and medium fries. Imagine the shock when I was told I couldn't have my food as they don't start serving from the main menu until 10:30.

This was at 11:00!

Did you pull out an Uzi and shoot the place up?

There's no point in you quoting that diatribe I'm not interested. I'm into my good food, nutrition and know a lot about it, furthermore I'm into my bodybuilding and fitness and as such buy the best I can get and I don't do "cheap" or "easy way out" solutions when it comes to food.

Nope I go to the butchers 90% of the time. Admittedly sometimes I go to the counter in Waitrose but more often than not I go to my local butcher.

I make my own burgers at home, and I don't really eat much bread as the bread in this country is particularly awful and simple carbs are bad news :p

Yet you insinuated that you don't buy McD's due to that very fact, or did I just read it wrong?

What about the French sourdough bread in Waitrose, is that low GI?

Indeed what? I read it wrong or you don't buy it because of your opinion that their burgers are padded out with water and other fillers?

No I was making a general comment about meat. Whether or not their claim is true, I can asure you the meat will be low quality and hold very little nutritional value.
