What card available today is on par with an 8800 GT 512mb? Is the 9600 good? My budget is limited to a max of around £60. Trying to get hold of an 8800 GT but not much luck so looking for an equivalent alternative.

save a bit more and get a 4850 is i were you. However if you really cant stretch past 60£ then look for a second hand card. Try posting in the Wanted secion of the members market here on the ocuk forums :) gl hf

9800gt is on par with the 8800gt

But isn't £60.

----===----

4670 is in that price range but the 9600GT is the better card. Although slightly behind the performance of the 8800GT it's very close still.

Otherwise I'd try to find a second hand 8800GT.

You can't buy a new card as good as the 8800GT for £60.
Best option would be the 9600GT, otherwise increase your budget or look secondhand.

Depends on the resolution, if you only play at 1280x1024 or 1440x900 or below it will be ok for most games, but modern games like crysis and far cry 2 will struggle with only 256Mb of VGA RAM

£60 should get you a used 8800GT 512Mb, in fact you were offered one in your wanted thread for £60 so id take that.

Also for your £60 budget an 8800GTS 640Mb would be a fine card, one went recently in MM for £45 :)

I was offered one but someone else wrote in my thread and poached it!

8800GTX can be had for £80-£90???

I'd go check behind the sofa/hassle relatives for some extra cash.

I just hurtled through crysis warhead with mine, its handling farcry2 fine too, all high detail at 1680x1050.
