Just found a newish listing for it as 13/03/09 for the PC on that well known high st retailer.

Wonder if its legit or just wishful thinking as they even have a games for windows boxshot up as well.

Do not remember Capcom announcing it yet other than to say in future they are going multiplatform on almost everything.

Google brings up several other places offering it for pre-order so as the PC had Resident Evil's 1-4 you have to assume at some time 5 will get a PC release as well. Hopefully same time as the other platforms which should not be hard as its developed on the PC anyway and the game is almost finished they are just polishing now so 6 months left to tweak for the PC.

Retailers just make these things up i'm afraid mate. I remember pre-ordering Final Fantasy XII a week before a certain online retailer said it would be released, i received it from them over a year later when it was actually released.

Just use sources like Wikipedia, at present that doesn't even say it is getting released on the PC yet, let alone a date for said release.

[EDIT] I'm slightly confused as to why you've linked an article where Capcom state they have not even announced a PC release (in the full article), surely that proves that the retailers are just lying to soak up some pre-orders?

I imagine there will be a PC version but it won't be anytime soon after the release. I think the Resident Evil 4 game was released in 2004 or 2005 and didn't reach the PCs till around 2007? All 3 other games can be found on the PC too.

True; the problem with the PC port was that the clunky controls didn't need to be there (hence the mouse aiming patch), but they added to the atmosphere. It was much scarier struggling to line up that headshot with the god-awful PS2 joysticks as an enemy ran towards you, on the PC it was just a bit too easy.

I can't wait till this comes out. Resident Evil series one of my all time favourites.

I believe it will come out for PC. But probably 3-6 months after it comes out for consoles. I will be buying it for my xbox 360. But if somehow it comes out on PC at the same time and the graphics are better, I will buy for PC. As for the issue with playing it on pc, just map the keys to a controller :)

I've played it through to a certain point on my brothers PS2 before finally getting hold of the game about a year later on the PC. Definitely better playing on a bigger TV with all the lights off than a 19" CRT monitor that i currently have. I saw the PC mouse patch but decided it would be pointless going for it. I could just imagine every kill being a headshot and breezing through the whole game so I got a PS2 pad for a fiver off ebay and a PS2-to-usb thingymebob.

At least on the PC version you can apply anti aliasing filters on top of it. Perfect to get rid of those rough PS2 game edges

*me remembers when i was around 12 asking my father to buy resident evil 1 . i was thinking it was a strategy game. then i did **** my pants at home

I can't be the only one who's noticed that Capcom (Resi 5, DMC 4 well ported, Bionic Commando), and maybe japanese publishers in general (Silent Hill, Dynasty Warriors) are putting out more games and better implemented, for the PC nowadays. With the Japanese game market pretty stagnant and dominated by handhelds, and European and American games increasingly selling better to their home markets, I think they see the PC as an opportunity to expand into Europe.
I reckon Resi 5 will arrive at the same time or only a few months behind and at least competantly ported. As for mouse support, I can't understand why you'd refuse to play a game in the way it's obviously intended - with a pad. Not like it's an FPS is it ?

Joypads are fine until accurate movement, aiming, etc comes into play.

Gears of War, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Max Payne 2 and Resident Evil 4 were all ruined for me with their clumsy fiddly analogue aiming. Played the PS3 Mirrors Edge demo last night and that too is a game which will benefit massively from mouse and keyboard controls.

No doubt RE5 will too.

http://www.tothegame.com/ has been immensely accurate for me for years. Germany has had two games released a month earlier (Two Worlds & Sacred 2, which threw off the UK release date as it's done by EU/USA/Nordic)

After RE4 PC I've give up. That was just morbidly obese.
