I really liked the first game - it had a fair few flaws, the graphics werent superb, there was no split screen etc

but i put that aside because i enjoyed the racing so much - i liked the openness of the track and how you could use terrain to your advantage.

i have to say - they have implemented it brilliantly into the new environment

the 4 zones work well and give a diversification in each setting.
mountains to waterfalls to volcanoes and jungle
all feel like seperate places - even though they are all together

the environmental effects on your boost are a good gameplay mechanic too.

i think there still could have been improvements

the vehicle selection process is far quicker than the last game - however - you select your vehicle from a picture - if you press 'view', you are whisked into the long & slow loading sequence of it rendering a vehicle to look at - then the same time again to get off the vehicle viewer.

the environments are great - but heavily forested areas just feel like corridors with trees [invisible walls] either side

it doesnt give the illusion of being in a forest

all that aside i am really enjoying what i have played so far

multiplayer seems better all round now too [only played a little though]

i would say pacific rift is well worth getting - if you liked the first game - you will be very very impressed with this

anyone else got it? share your thoughts!

Got it day before yesterday. Not played yet as LBP is taking all my time. Will play it later today, if Gears of War doesn't take all my time today.

I would get it but too many games to play ATM

Fallout 3, LBP, RB2, Gears 2, Resistance 2, Dead Space to finish. And that is just the ones i have!! Nevermind mirrors edge, TTR:UW and this. There just isn't enough hours in the day!!

got mine, here's some ingame screenshots from my game session.

Great Shots Mate!!
I've send you a friend's request. Maybe we shall have a game sometime.

I have to say that MotorStorm Pacific Rift is truly a next gen Game by far. Almost close to the original CGI MotorStorm that was shown back in 2005. A vast improvement in Graphics and tracks than the original MotorStorm by a million miles. The only downside that it still does not feature a Driver's cockpit view, like the one shown in the CGI movie.

This certain shown what the PS3 is made off when it comes to designing games with PS3 in mind, NOT multi-Format.

As good as it looks, they are still downscaled screenshots which always look cleaner/better than full scale.

Getting my copy within the next 2 weeks, need to get Left 4 Dead first.

Much like the first game, I just can't play it. Can't get higher than 14th :( I don't know what it is about Motortorm as Im usually OK at racing games.

I find with Motorstorm that handbrake and boosting from handbrake to be very important. I love Motorstorm and the way it handles but i know a lot do have probs. I have 17 golds atm, trying not to leave any track i unlock on anything less than a gold before i go on to the next. Online is a different matter, some very good racers out there, have only managed silver twice
