Hi all,

Been offered some cristal champagne 2002 for £120 a bottle and its definatly the real stuff, comes in a box.

I dont know anything about champagne so i was hoping some champagne drinkers on the forums will tell me if its a good deal?

No its horrible, too sweet.

Go for a nice Krug or if you want to pay a price good ol' Dom.

You can get a Bollinger 99 Grande Annee for around £60, which i think is a better bottle.

Are you buying this for any special reason, or just because you can?

If you've got £120 quid to burn then why not get a full case of wine or a load of beers?

I dont want to buy it to drink as i dont drink champagne. I thought i might be able to sell it for a profit, or keep hold of it for a year or two and sell it.

Gota be worth £200?

Who would you sell it to?

Anyone who is serious about drinking it would want to be sure that it's been stored correctly.

You're gonna spend £120 on a bottle of champagne to sell it in two years for £80 profit?

If you could do that with a thousand bottles it would be worthwhile. 1 bottle is a bit daft.

There's also RD too if you prefer it extra dry. I've had the 1996 before and I have a bottle downstairs too.

I made a point of drinking a bottle of Cheval Blanc 2003 at the weekend. Very quashable! :D

Champagne is normally bottled to drink now after being disgorged..

Lucky man, the 96 was lovely, but I've not had any for a while.

Currently have 16 bottles of bog standard bolly in the garage - 'left-overs' from a works party.

Not worth it for the sake of £80 if you ask me. Either buy it for a special occasion, or if your a Champagne conasieur. Otherwise just save the money because it's going to be more hassle trying to sell the bottle for £200 than it's worth for £80.
