Does anybody have any idea when the Auzentech X-FI homeTheater HD sound card will become available.

I am interested in using this card in my HTPC. I have looked at the Asus HD card and it seems that there are some problems with this at the moment, so I will leave this one alone for a while.

So, is there any news on this card.

Cheers

Could you tell me what sort of problems. Was ready to order Asus hdav next week but now I’m not sure.

No support for Dolby True HD (yet).
No Vista drivers.
No support for passthrough of 24p video (yet?)

All likely to be fixed, but certainly far from a complete solution.

If you're running XP 32-bit, don't need 24p output and don't mind the lack of Dolby True HD, then go for it. If you're on Vista, hold on a wee while.

There are vista drivers, and I'm using them on Vista 64.

As I'm not using the card for HTPC use ( I just wanted 7.1 over HDMI, and I'm currently lacking a matching amp for my centre speaker so analog soundcards were forcing me to fall back on quad ) I'm reasonably happy so far.

That said, I'm still keeping an eye out for the Auzentech as I suspect that for gaming it will end up being the superior option.

Oh and the 24hz thing is indeed an issue w/ the Asus, and one that their tech support has said isn't going to be fixed. Let's hope that's not the case, or this card is entirely pointless for it's supposed target market.

Anyway, I'll post updates as I live w/ the Asus whilst keeping an eye on the Auzentech :)

It looks like Auzentech are now shipping their their X-Fi Hometheater HD.

Which raises the question? Will overclockers be stocking this item?

I found it impossible to find one in the UK and even phoned the UK distributor listed on the Auzentech website to no avail.

In the end I imported one from Germany.
