Name this band - please :)

A mate from works wants to know the name of the following:

A two-piece band
Two males
Both white
Both from the UK
One plays a synth (produces drum sounds etc)
They had some commercial success around 2005+

Any ideas please? :D

I had one of my most embarassing moments with Sparks.
It was around 1974 and they were playing at the Victoria Hall, Hanley.
Everybody sat down for the support but as soon as the main act came on you'd run down the front and start headbanging.
As soon as the first chord struck I jumped out of my seat, bombed down the front, head down and didn't lift it up until the first song was finished which was called BC.
I looked up and I was the only one there with everybody laughing at me :D

It's not Keane? I know they're a three-piece but this has stumped me. I also thought Gnarls Barkley, but that matches even less of the criteria.
