Hmm, so does it change the difficulty when more players join? 8 player co-op just sounds like madness. Playing L4D with 3 other players is a lot to take in.
It changes difficulty according to how many players there are and how well they are playing. It dynamically sets new objectives according to how many people are present, how quickly the previous objective was cleared and a i think how many casualties weren't revived during the previous objective. If you end up with a particularly good team of 8 people things just become insane, however as you're with a good team that typically isn't a problem
.[EDIT] Oh and on the madness front, you have to consider for starters the majority of enemies will be shooting at you, not running at you manically like they do in L4D, so that calms down things a bit. Also as there are three different classes it breaks down the structure of the game a bit, for example you'll have soldiers up the front with their shields up, soaking up the damage and mowing down the baddies with their chain gun, with sharpshooters behind them feeding ammo to keep the shields up while taking a few pot shots at the enemy and then medics holding up the back, healing the ones that do take the occasional hit. It's actually surprisingly structured.

. It feels like a simplified ETQW and I might get it for the co-op feature - only had one game though where ppl did what the classes required...

Although the dumb postie left it on my door step outside the flat
