Maybe this should be in SC....

OK, so everyone is on about Obama being the first Black POTUS, yeah? We'll, he's half Kenyan and half white American.

So if he was the new Kenyan President, would he be the first white president of Kenya?

I think the media has made him much more black than he is.

Have at it.

Actually, as much as this topic annoys me, you've raised a good point about the white in Kenya thing.

But, 'blackness' is the one-drop rule.

Being black isn't about the colour of your skin. It's about vibe, hanging out, kicking back, smoking a number. Fighting prejudice and negative stereotypes wherever you find them! I'm blacker than Obama and I'm white.

No because he is a black man... mixed raced Americans consider themselves black. How do I know, because I worked with a lot of Black/mixed raced Americans during the 90's.

Wasn't Kenya a British colony and thus has probably had many white rulers over its history? In any case wikipedia suggests that the modern country of Kenya has only ever had 3 presidents in its history.

Technically the Queen was (is?) head of state anyway. ;)

He clearly doesn't look white. He's not white.

Since he is not white, and he has dark coloured skin, it is perfectly acceptable to call him a black man.

Remember, a great many people, both in the US and the UK, subscribe to the one drop theory when it comes to race (or at least skin colour).

McCain probably had more black in him in 'nam.

he's.... beige (as was pointed out on HIGNFY last night)

But really, I don't see that it matters, any more than his middle name being hussein, or any number of other reasons that nobody I know can remember voting for him.

Perhaps change is a good thing, perhaps he'll make a bigger mess of things than Gee Dubya, who can say. I for one, am ready to let him dig his own grave.
