Great success

It's actually more expensive to execute someone than it is to imprison them for life...

That's not so much the act of executing someone, it's the system put in place before executing, it would be more correct to say "It's actually more expensive to convict someone for the death penalty than to convict & imprison them for life.".

Personally I think they should dump them all on an island to fend for themselves.

I give up, I never said they SHOULD shoot them, jesus christ.

Delvis: Not that a bullet is obviously the best way to do things, I'm not declaring that.

And those 'legal fee's', wouldn't need to be there if they just gave them the sentence in the first place, instead of farting around with them in jail for 'x' amount of years in jail.

No, it's not 'correct' in all circumstances, but yes, it is in others.

There is always the argument, everyone deserves another chance.

I generally think that if you take a life, you should pay for it with your own.

There will be people who say 'ooooh, but what if someone kills in self defence, or its an accident, etc etc.' So of course in that respect my thinking isn't so straight forward.

But as they went around blowing places up, intent on killing people, I'd say they pretty much got what they deserved...

So you think the criminal justice system should have retribution as it's main aim?

No it should have Justice as its main aim. Sentencing people to 10 years for murder as we do in this country isn't justice either. In this case, justice has now been served.

Some of his stuff is good like the chain gangs and saying that courts not overcrowding should decide release dates.

He's a complete ass. His methods and means are barbaric as hell. Honestly, he is the epitome of everything that is wrong with Americas justice system and why I for one am glad our justice system is nothing like Americas.

The fact he's cost Maricopa county $43 million dollars in claims brought against him, his institution and his methods only goes to highlight some of the problems.

These are just some.

Personally, I'm of the opinion "The degree of civilisation in a society is revealed by entering its prisons."

But you were defending this?

... :p

Defending, not agreeing, because obviously it doesn't DIRECTLY effect it.

I could say Tesco's effects world fammine, due to the VAST amounts of foods they waste every evening chucking them away because the sell by date is tomorrow...But obviously that would be silly, and I'm only saying it as an example :)

:\

Me being against the death penalty doesn't mean I think some of the seemingly short sentences we give here are a good idea...

You say justice has been served, I say it has gone too far.

Why "seemingly" short sentences? What would you give as an appropriate sentence for mass murder?

The death penalty is fundamentally hypocritical, does not work as a deterrent and its implementation here shows poor judgment. The perpetrators want to die to become martyrs.

Didn't make it up actually, it was my reply, I said "So you", which is a question :)

I asked why as well :p

I read the 'Why? :)' part and started to construct a reply in my mind but then i read the rest of your post which frankly was stupid. Of course i think they should be punished for the rest of their lives...

My view is that no one on earth should have the right to kill another human, except in the case of trying to save lives (self defence, justified war). I'm not really sure I can say much else since it is just a personal opinion.

Kiss and make up? :)

Well, I dunno about the kiss part :p

No that's fair enough, didn't mean to reply in an aggressive way if it came across like that.

I see your point, I probably couldn't do it, doubt I could pull a trigger on someone.

I remember watching a film not long ago, about guys who had to put bags over peoples heads, put the noose around them and then pull the lever...All the while they're cowering from start to finish.

Naturally it messed up one of the people...That's something I definitely probably couldn't do.

I'm not a fan of the death penalty, but when they commited the crimes they were aware of the punishment they faced if caught.

Of course. It doesn't make sense to withhold the death penalty from these people to the exclusion of others, but the death penalty should not be in place in the first place. It's the judicial system itself that is flawed in allowing capital punishment.

Maybe in our country where a life is worth more, but in these more barbaric countries, people are more expendable so its not your place to say the judical system is wrong, its their country so they make their own laws.
