Tell me about 350z's....

The only thing looks wise about the 350Zs I don't like is the dash/dials and the tonka toy door handle... what's going on there? :) Booner... you seriously preferred that to an Elise?

Still toying with the idea of a Boxster S, but who knows. I'm not bothered about waiting a while if the prices are crashing through the floor. You never know what will drop into budget :D

That's sort of what's stopping me going out and trying loads of different stuff really. Must learn to not give a damn :)

As an everyday car I'd say get the 350z, it won't be as fun but it's much easier to live with.

The Elise is an amazing car, but even I would find it difficult sometimes if it were my only car. It's surprising how many times you just need a bit more space than an Elise gives you.

Saw a nice Boxster for sale here. He has had it up for ages but they just aren't shifting so I'm sure you could haggle him further. Some real bargains to be had :D

Need to register, which I don't think they are allowing right now... got a PH link? :)

This looks tidy though... http://www.911virgin.com/boxutf.htm

Is around 15K a decent budget for a Boxster S though or am I likely to run into issues? What sort of cash reserve should you have set aside for general contingency? I like the idea of this 111 point inspection before getting a warranty now so I suppose that will give peace of mind :)

I've never sat in a Boxster so what are they like inside for those on the lanky side? Cheers!

He last dropped it to £6500 at the end of September and he hasn't indicated he has sole it yet.

2.5 model, tan leather interior, metallic blue exterior.

Masses of history, and recent new front discs and pads fitted, as well as an oil / filter change and brake fluid change.

New front tyres 1500 miles ago, and a geometry check.
I only use good fuel (normally SUL, as its not a big fan of V-Power or Ultimate, I tried them) and its always had Mobil1 in it.

98K miles, of which I've had it since it had 78K on it, and the VAST majority of my miles have been motorway, so its unstressed.

Sony in dash single CD stereo (was in it when I got it) and the guy who had it before me had new MAF sensors on it as well as a new rad, and I've had a new rear screen in it.

Ben, Planet Page (Weebz) and Hippohead have all driven it and loved it. I've had no problems with it whatsoever, and it returns 30mpg easily. It doesn't go above 3000rpm without being thoroughly warmed up, and once well warm does get the occasional redline revs to help keep it from getting bunged up.

Car can be seen / driven (if proof of insurance is present) in Shrewsbury most weekends, or Newbury during the week.

£7500 ono and no p/x, ta.

Selling due to imminent rebirth. Wink And I will be sad to see it go, as I quite like it. sad

PMs please!

Ta!

I couldn't possibly give you sound advice, I'm no expert but I'd guess that at prices as high as £13k expect to get hit hard when you come to sell. I know there are a few members on here who drive Boxters so searching the threads or starting a new one might be an idea should you need to learn more. Good luck :)

The idea is to get something like that for 6 months to a year and then get rid in favour of something else... unless I find that I like it too much :) Off to do some searching... also, seems it may be worthwhile upping budget a bit in favour of a more recent model according to honestjohn.co.uk...

Nice, sounds like you had fun! Was it fitted with a Nismo exhaust?

What's the acceleration like off the line, nice kick in the back?

Shame to hear the rear view is awful but I had heard it was from other people, I suck at parking my Saxo so I think I will need to practise loads when I come to get a bigger car ;)

Completely standard UK GT model, 276bhp with stock exhaust. I was really impressed to the point of not needing to change it, it was that good :)

I did a reverse turn to come back down through the back roads and it doesn't feel like you are driving a barge, think it would be ok to park.

I didn't feel guilty wasting his time, because I potentially would buy one and also i think he enjoyed the hoon around rather than sitting behind his desk :D

The interior is marmite, but seems well built with no rattles. The door handles are weird though....they look like cupholders

To be honest, most things will feel like that coming from a Golf! Make sure you drive some other stuff first :)

True, but then I was comparing it mainly to my experience in a 111S, caterham 7, Supra TT and Civic type R (new shape) and also being passenger in a few other perfomance cars like Rx8, Subaru P1.

I would like an M3, but want something a bit different as there are quite a few M3's around and they kind of blend in with the traffic :p

Good. Now drive other cars because as this is the first non crud car you've driven its hardly suprising you want one.

Now you must drive other cars and decide if you want one of those more.

I have driven a 111S, Caterham 7, Civic type R and a Supra TT before which weren't crud! I just think that the 350z ticks most of the boxes. The only other car that I think I should give a test drive would be a Z4 3.0, but I fear they will stick their nose up at me.

Well I just did compare them, I think I am addicted to the power delivery of the V6 too so until I can run an elise as a second car, i think the 350z is great compromise :)

Who cares about that?! :D

Drive one and you'll like it, probably more so than the 350Z :p

It needs quite a bit of revving to get the best out of it though, it's a 3.2 I6 but revs to 8000rpm.

If i was in your situation i'd have the M3 everyday of the week. Might be a touch difficult getting a test drive though. Also don't think you would stand out in a 350z anymore than you would in an m3 anyway, but thats not really the point.

Ya glad you enjoyed it Spooner! What engine is in your current Golf?

I like the M3, but seeing as brother has one... well, if I'm paying M money I'd go the Z4M route, even though I hear it's slightly compromised. Ok I eat pie now.

Also there's the GT4 of 350Z, I think it was 05 or 06, and it had the slightly newer engine in before the rest of the line. 290 something horses? It then went to 300 and something (I read crap from 307-313, ps hp, std etc). They did improve the interior sometime too.
You probably already know all this.

They let me drive a 530d quite happily a few months ago at North Oxford BMW, they never even asked for my driving licence :)

And I wasn't wearing a suit or anything posh either (if I'm going in during the week I usually will as that's what I wear for work).
