What umbrella?

It's raining hard and my existing umbrella is one of those tiny ones which barely keeps me dry. So, what to buy...

Want an automatic one. Click the button, whoosh! Be nice if it had a hooked rather than straight handle, so I can hang it up. Not too big, but not too small.

What do you recommend? What do you use?

Don't get a really cheap one ... having struggled with a £10 for a while I replaced it with one at ~£20 from M&S ... significantly better with no wobble due to poor joints in the extending spine.

Austin Reed to a mid size umbrella with a hooked handle for about £20. I find it to be perfect, almost the sixe of a golf umbrella when up, but it still fits in my bag when closed.

+1, I bought one of these the other day and it kept me nice and dry in last nights deluge. Doesn't stop your feet getting wet though

I was surprised to find 'gay' comments about umbrellas. Strange given that some women find 'chivalry' beside a man holding an umbrella to keep her dry and warm under a storm.
Still, each to their own I guess.
