Mirrors Edge - Jumping off roof tops

Really enjoyed the demo, and I just love the whole artistic style of the game. Looking forward to it a lot.

I played the demo of this the other night on my PS3 and just thought meh.

It was good but there was nothing there that really made me want to play it.

I kept thinking that it would have been great if it was a FPS with the free-runing aspects added in rather than a mission based (almost arcade machine feeling) free running game with FPS elements tacked on as a after thought.

Uhm, that's kind of the idea...you're not supposed to be shooting anyone, you're supposed to disarm them and get away. If you're trying to shoot everyone in the head then back away from the game and go back to CoD4. :p

In a way it's quite brave releasing an original and stylish game that's based on non-violence, as it will probably be shunned by the masses for this very reason...good on EA. :)

For me that's the attraction of the game, I don't want yet another generic FPS. Infact I'm going to make a conscious effort NOT to use any guns unless it's absolutely neceserry.

Absolutely.

I have not played a demo as much as i have played this.
I love everything about it, I used to love working out jumps on games like
quake and even in the call of duty series so a game that is all about that
i am going to buy on release. Even if it is only 6 hours gameplay im going to play the time trial mode over and over to get the best times.

Somehow my enthusiasm for this game dwindled since I saw videos for it earlier this year, but I have just watch the videos in OP, and my interest really has been rekindled.

It just looks so different and fresh. I wasn't planning on getting this on release but those vids and music have just made me want it soon :) Might have to hold off on L4D :(

Will give the demo a try tonight - I don't need to a code or anything for it do I?

Strange... both this and CoD:WaW showing as in stock on one of the online stores.

Obviously I can not say which. Damn them! Making it so tempting. But I already have so many games to play!

Downloaded the demo last night and gave it a play this afternoon - it is good, I really liked the idea and the puzzle-like element of figuring out the path.

I didn't like the guns, why did they have to add guns? Really ruined it for me.

got 6/10 on Plyr (Bravo)

Pluses + Minuses

+ jumping-running gameplay mechanics
+ graphics

- story
- combat (is apparently extremely frustrating and difficult)

summary - not much more than a tech demo.

Saw that to , and have been looking forward to this game for ages, have pre-ordered and played the demo through about 4-5 times. Love it and knew I would. Bit disappointed about the 5-6 hours length, however I think this will have replay value.

Bit annoyed no multiplayer - races would have been great ala Crackdown roof top races. However probably would not have been the most played game online.

However the Playr review - I don't really rate their reviews as the reviewers seem to be a bunch of numpties when it comes to games and their opinions too much affect the score. I know - how else are you mean't to rate stuff - I don't know but they seem to get stuff wrong for instance their BiA:HH review the reviewer stated that he didn't like the game cause you couldn't play it CoD style and that when he tried he died lots - he stated you would die loads in it....... I played on Hard and died twice. He just did not get the game style so he reviewed it poorly.

Anyway - to sum up the Playr review should not go to far to pursuade people not to buy imo.

I personally like the fact that there are no guns in this game and will go out of my way to never touch one - if ya want guns then buy COD:WaW. loads of game with guns - nice to see one iwth a different approach.

Gametrailers review is up.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/42567.html

I really enjoyed the demo of this but think I'll leave it Christmas to get as I have enough things to play through.

Gametrailers reviews are the only I go by now as I like the way they break the review down giving you an idea of a games weak points. Anyway after watching the review I think I'm going to have to buy it :)

At least with it only being 5-6-7 hours long I can hopefully finish it in time to trade it for Resistance 2.
