Great, an ex Vectra hire car. What a bargain.

Ok Mr Misery guts, find us something better then :D And 5 year old luxo barges don't count.

Looking around it seems you can now buy a brand new (pre-reg) 1.8 Vectra for £8995 or a diesel one for £9995. Surely that is exceptionally cheap?

I don't understand how these could be considered bargains though. At the end of the day you'd be buying a Vectra.
I'm not into the "luxo barge" scene, but I'd far rather have something that's 5 years old and nice, than an ugly lump of Vauxhall tat.

Soulless is indeed the word, but it's still a decent car to get from A to B in, with a quiet and comfortable ride. Still I wouldn't buy one, but wouldn't (actually make that didn't ;)) say no when given one.

Although if it's a luxury barge you're after, Volvo S80s go for ridiculously low prices - we got ours for £1700 a few months back after the old A6 died.

Simply because some people (not myself) put greater value on having a new car than having a nice one.
