Fallout 3 multiformat face off

Pointless they should try comparing them with PC hardware that is 3 years old, at least make it fair.

8800GT released Nov 2007 vs Xbox 360 Released Nov 2005

The 8800 Series was released in 2006. Sure, the GT came in 07 but it wasn't as quick as the 8800GTX which came out in 2006.

No it doesn't.

How exactly doesn't it ?

It has superior GFX, superior performance ( 40-60 fps in instead of dropping to 30 like on the ps3) on old hardware ( 8800, E6xxx series c2d), achievements and mods...

What exactly is better about the console version?
Controller? Get a cheap ps2 imitation for 10€ or a 360 controller ?
Screen? Not exactly hard to connect your hdtv with your pc...

The only thing that is better on consoles is the price of +-140€ for an xbox360... But I'm upgrading my pc anyway when needed...

So unless someone really can't spare about 50 euros a month on average on pc upgrades, I can't see why the console version would be any better...

Mods and higher res graphics makes the pc my gaming platform of chioce. Plus the fact Kb+mouse/other peripherals lends itself to far more gaming depth, certain games that would be impossible on console (some MMOs/flight sims/deep rts games etc). Its not exactly expensive either. I built a 8800gt/ C2Duo system for the wife a few months back for around £300 and it trounces any console.

As for FO3, its not a bad PC effort, still feels a bit consoley but plays and looks vastly superior to what it does on my mate's 360. And there is already over 250+ mods for it.

Consoles are handy at times tho, I use my 360 mostly for Rock Band and some sports games that feel more fun playing on the couch with a controller.

There's no reasoning with Cheets, after all he's deluded enough to believe you have to update your PC every 6 months in order to enjoy new games.

Just don't bother, he's a waste of time and a complete console fanboy.

The only problem with PC is it's ridiculously expensive. Dont get me wrong, I love PC gaming and far prefer it to my 360.

But I'm graphics card shopping at the moment with a budget which would buy a 360 Elite. Just for ONE component in a PC..

Well that all depends, an 8800GT can be had for £60 odd quid, now I have no problems maxing out Fallout 3 and Dead Space (just 2 recent games) for example at 1920x1200 and they run perfect.

An 8800GT 512 mb is 80€ second hand... Unless you game on high resolutions (1920x1200+), that card will be more than enough for at least a few years to come too if you don't mind playing on medium or on 30 fps ( it now runs everything maxed on normal res except Crysis and Far Cry 2 ofc.)... Besides, with an 8800 games still look better regardless what setting it needs to run at reasonable fps than on the consoles, an x1800xt/7900 just doesn't cut it any more for games really ( shown by the low fps in games like GTA IV on the consoles) , but the consoles still run on those gpu's...

But you are comparing something that is older, its just an unfair comparison.

The developers can get so much out of the 360s hardware proves that if you spend a bit more time you can make a game thats graphically up there with pc hardware and that upgrading every 6 months is not necessary to enjoy gaming.

My 360 is sitting on my desk and uses the same screen as my PC. The only comparision Im interested in would be the difference between them both, if anything I thing it was a fair comparison as they are all very simular. Unless you played them side by side you wouldn't know the differnce if they all played at the same res.

I would love the devs to put that little extra into the PC to push it graphically for the graphic cards that are main market card when the game is released. ie. Cards that are 1 year to 6 months old.

I am actually surprised to see yet again the 360 trumping the PS3.

I'm not really. Sony shot themselves in the foot with the GPU. The only time I expect to see graphical parity between the two is if the PS3 is the lead platform and the 360 is a port. Blu-ray would have been great for textures if only the PS3 had the grunt to display them.

Oblivion was a 1st generation 360 game, so it's not surprising they managed to squeeze a bit more out of it for the PS3.

Shame Microsoft shot themselves in the foot with noise and reliability issues. If they'd released a quiet 360 I would consider one.

Mine looks more than good enough on my PC, I have a 24" for it, and when I get a DVI-HDMI cable, I'll have it hooked up to my 40" Bravia, so I don't have any use for getting it on my PS3. Prefer the controls on the PC by miles anyway, lol.

Oh while I am on the subject, I bought an Xbox Arcade, and it looked utterly terrible until I spent another £20 odd quid on a HDMI cable.

You only get the old yellow-white-red cable. I could barely make out "Microsoft" on the splash screen when I switched it on !

So £130 + TV + Expensive Cable
