360 ban wave begins again.

I don't think you'll be seeing them on your friends list much longer...at least they wont be online haha.

Why not? MS ban in waves. If they survived this one then it's likely they'll be online until the next one. Although i'm guessing if they've been correctly stealthing their discs to avoid this one, they'll survive the next one too.

But I'm guessing they aren't done banning. I reckon they'll carry on banning till NXE is released at least.

(My original point was more a joke than a factual observation however :))

Microsoft should really ban gamertags and wipe off peoples scores, that would be a real deterant to flashing consoles. I know it would have put me off doing it in the past.

That would lose them customers, which is the last thing MS wants to do. This is the best solution for them, not only does it cut down on piracy but it forces a large number of people to go out and buy a new console which will make sales figures look that little bit better.

I’ve gotten a few messages and seen some forum threads pop up on console bannings so I thought I’d post and let folks know what’s up. In our our continued effort to keep gameplay safe and secure for our community of more than 14 million members, Microsoft has taken action against a small percentage of Xbox 360 consoles that have been illegally modified in order to play pirated games. You should know that modifying your Xbox 360 console is also a violation of the Xbox LIVE terms of use, will void your warranty and result in a ban from Xbox LIVE. The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive, both from manufacturers and the local companies that support them. We will continue to employ and bolster anti-piracy security measures to counter piracy in the gaming industry and improve security in the Xbox LIVE community.

From MS/MajorNelson, sorry if posted before, couldnt see it though.

If that happened to me I would just create an offline profile and not pay for XBL.

T.

I don't know why people don't do that anyway. Play the game and not have it connected to your online profile. Especially for SP games.

I tell you why, gamerscore. A genius idea by MS. I wonder when they came up with it was it to keep you addicted or gather all your information.

I would love to know how much of their sales are from this type of situation combined with the RROD. It must have added quite a bit.

I think total console numbers sold versus number of individual owners would make very interesting reading. Especially from the early days in the states when you only got 3 months warranty.

Some of the comments are more hilarious than the pirates venting.....

Dear eBay ,

For Sale :

One slightly used Xbox 360.

I totally agree with Microsoft and the Major on this one, people need to learn that piracy doesn't pay. They deserve all they get when they don't follow the rules of the Services they use.

Thanks Major:

If you can't play fair, don't play...

Nice! Keep it up MSFT!!

Thanks for looking out for us.

Please ban the NXE pirates too

Not too surprised. I mean, there have been quite a few "early releases" lately. Gld they are getting punished, if soemone isn't willing to buy the games, why are they willing to buy food or tv or anything else?

don't worry another firmware update will be release after nxe and all modified consoles will be online soon enough useing nxe microsoft can't stop them all, most of u will be ****ed after they update to detect the firmware and the non modified xbox gets brick from the update that happend to me twice and don't accuse me of pirating or modding i don't steal i work at fry's elecronic and i get 30 percent off using my discount sometimes i can put what ever price on the discontinued items...

Way to keep public relations up MS. Dumb *******. Piraters don't steal LIVE, they pay for that ridiculously priced ***** service, and now you ban some of the most loyal users of it. What ever happened to the EULA which states what you buy is yours to do what you want with? I guess since Xmas is coming around you're probably rolling around in revenues that you could give two ***** less about kicking off a few users. What about my poor neighbor who makes copies of the games he owns because his 4 year old son likes to play fetch with his dog with the prior backups and leaves his retail versions on a high shelf. Now he's stuck with a brick of a console and 50 coasters.

Ninjas 1 - Pirates 0

God bless america.

It will never stop though, the modders will always be one step ahead of MS and the game devs.

Lets face it, since the last bannings, some modders have prob download anything in the rang of 50-60 games, and at a pop of £35 each (est. RRP) is around £2100 in games. For some of the modders who get banned and HAVE to go out and buy another console (£100) is nothing, after all, they have been saving all year long by not buying games.

If anything, if gives them an excuse to go out and buy a new XBOX which has less chance of RROD, and then, they mod/piracy for another year. And it goes on.

My personal fav is the guy who's neighbours kid plays fetch with the game discs and now he has a useless 50 coasters. Well actually he doesn't, he has a working xbox and 50 games.

Personally I think it's hilarious that the people who have been banned are actually complaining about it. They knew the risks, they should just deal with it, it's ridiculous. I just don't understand how anyone can honestly whinge about Microsoft for banning them when they've modified their console. I imagine the people who were banned and stupid enough to complain about it are the minority though - most will just get another console ... although as the new ones can't be modded easily I have no idea how it'll pan out :)

LOL I like that one too. Dude should go and buy a spindle of blank CD-Rs for his kids, they are cheaper than good quality DVD+9 heheh

when u sign up 4 live dont u have 2 put bank details and your adress in? MS have the adresses

MS should just issue court summons for pirated software on the abusers, what fine does it carry?
$100,000 or summit?

Bugger all, copywrite theft on such a small scale isn't worth taking people to court over. The only reason why davenport are sueing PC games piraters is because they're also distributing it via torrent, hence they get sued for distribution, not for having it.

No, you don't have to enter any details. I never have, I use prepaid cards.
