Fiat Doblo Van

Sorry if am mistaken, buy you install aerials, dishes etc?
Not really. I do know a lot about aerial and sat install's but am not a fan of roof work so tend to avoid this.

If I am installing a new TV and they require an extra point from their good existing aerial or a second Sky point for Sky+ etc then I tend to get involved but rarely install from scratch.

Tax tax tax...

I've noted that my van doesn't seem to fall into the Euro4 tax band of £120.00. Instead £180! Seems mad for a little diesel van!

Pollution is 147g /km.
Kerb weight is 1300kg.

I don't have data on other pollutants but any advice appreciated.

If this was a Doblo car, then you'd be paying the lower £120 rate due to the low CO2 emissions, but as this a commercial vehicle it goes by the EU Emission regulations which include CO2, NOx, HC and particulate emissions. As your van does not meet all the Euro 4 emission requirements you have to pay the (fixed rate) higher tax. Stupid, but that's the law.

It just seems odd that they would not cater to Euro4. It was my error as I just assumed a 1.3derv would be.

However, I don't care too much as the tax difference is still not great. But as the DVLA have the emissions listed as 0g/km perhaps they have made a genuine error and screwed over all owners!

So far I have found NO data to say the engine does not meet Euro4.

Perhaps DVLA have cocked up since this is the Mk1 van but with the newer engine which wasn't offered for long with the Mk1?

Phoned the DVLA and the chap said that if I take a euro4 certificate for my vehicle to my local DVLA office then they will ammend their records and I can get the lower rate tax.

Phoned Fiat and after being passed about a lot I have left my details and somebody from head office will be calling me.

I cannot see why my vehicle won't meet Euro4 as the car-version of exactly the same vehicle meets them. Mechanically identical.

I wonder if this effects loads of owners or is a one-off?

One of the benefits touted for the 1.3 Multi-jet at the time of it's introduction was that in small/light cars it could meet Euro 4 particulate emissions without a particulate filter. Perhaps the Doblo is too heavy for it to achieve this?

Can we please get over this whole car version thing. Some details of the floor pan (not dimensions) are the same as a lot of the fiat, alfa, and lancia range. That's it.

I assume he's talking about the Doblo with windows (as the car version), in which case it's exactly the same but with windows

Semantics. It for transporting passengers rather than goods, it's taxed as a car, in the eyes of the law it's a car. You can equally say an Astra van is a car without seats and windows, but it's still a van.

Particularly if the tax banding is emissions related. Engines don't magically become more polluting when you install them in vans.
