The weekend just gone I spent 3 nights in Prague, had an excellent time but damn its expensive.

I now want to see more places in Europe but less touristy kind of places and preferably somewhere cheaper than Prague.

So somewhere cheap to fly to and cheap to stay with friendly locals.

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Thanks

haha my initial though was to say Prague. Anyway, I love Paris too and it can be done for cheap if you're careful, but it is quite costly overall. Barcelona is cheap and a great, great city.

EDIT - You said lesser known places, my bad. Just fly to somewhere in the south of France and take over a village.

Krakow.

Lots of hawt women, lovely place, go to the salt mines and see the massive underground hall with sculpture paintings chisseled out of the walls. Also if feeling particularly adventurous then head off over to aushwitz, very depressing but must be done. Especially stunning/weird with a blanket of snow. I cried a bit, but had a hot girl there with me too, so we both cried and hugged (both have polish heritage). Then we got drunk :D:D:D

Antwerp.
Friendliest place I've ever been to, People from Belgium are lovely, Gorgeous market square, Superb Chocolate, Great architecture & the women Love Polite English men

How about Latvia or Croatia?

I have a friend in Holland near s-Hertogenbosch, I'll have to ask him what its like there.

edit - ferry to calais and drive up to antwerp and on to see my friend in Holland sounds excellent, wonder how long I would need to do all that.

If you thought Prague was expensive, you'll struggle anywhere else remotely mainstream.

Indeed, unless you managed to frequent the most overpriced tourist traps, Prague isn't too expensive.

Was cheaper a couple of years ago though with a better (for us) exchange rate.

What about Slovenia?

Tallinn is top notch, you can get the ferry to/from Helsinki. There is Porto/Lisbon in portugal for somewhere a bit warmer. Stockholm is fantastic but not cheap. Sorrento was good with the coast roads and Pompeii etc.

Coming up to Christams Market season now, so I am headed to Germany for some of that. Amazing atmosphere, only downer is coming back here you would think Christmas doesn't exist!

Hamburg, Barcelona, Berlin, Amsterdam (yes, it is a nice place, its not just about the smokers and prossies)

I've been to Dortmund as well, that's a peaceful place.

Antwerp wierd northeners heh. If you young (around uni sort of age) Leuven is fantastic, great town, close to Brussels and a superb nightlife.

Well so far this year I have worked in Dublin, Madrid, Brussels, Zurich and Amsterdam and out of all of thise the only one I would pay myself to visit is Zurich. Its one of the cleanest, well run and friendly places I have ever been. Not the cheapest though.
