can you use a 3G sim card in a non 3G phone ?

In the vast majority of cases, yes. There are a very small number of older phones that don't like it, but yes.

given the misunderstanding of your question (post 2 and 3 are correct but also wrong, depending on what your question is :p )

do you mean 3 as in the network, or, a simcard that you can use 3G on in a phone that does not have 3G capability?

I can't see why it wouldn't. The only difference would be that you can't establish a 3G connection, and would be forced to use 2G. It won't affect your ability to make calls, send texts etc :)

right then this is my plan.

im not using my iPhone as much as i thought, and spending £37 on it is just stupid. I only use it for internet at the football, which doesn't warrant the price. I don't use it as an iPod because i have one already which is bigger than 16gb.

so i plan to sell my iPhone for around £350, with case etc. Then with £160, i have covered the cost of buying it in the first place. This can then be used to buy a new phone etc. The other £200 is going to be used to reduce the contract down as such. It is £37 a month , so after 6 months i am going to take of my unlimited text bundle of, and then replace the internet bundle with a text one. MEaning it will cost £30 a month. There will be 13 months left, so £200 shared by 13 gives you £15. Take that away and i have unlimted texts and 125 mins for £15, if all goes to plan.

I just need to find a phone which will work for cheap. Dont care what it is aslong as it makes phone calls and texts(and has predictive text on)
