Tonights pic's

evening all,

I've been out and about with me camera tonight and thought I'd share a few.

As always, C&C is welcome.

1, Slothmeister taking shots of the QE2. (Very heavy crop) I was stood on top of a container and got nothing!!)

2, A church door/light that I liked.

3 & 4, Not suer which one I like more. I was going for a "Ghost" theme, hence the chruch and gavestones. what do you think? looking at the camera or not??

Number 2 is my favourite. The sky in 3 & 4 looks odd! Looks like it's made from blocks or colour if that makes sense?

i think number 3 is better.

i like number 2 but i feel the light is a little over powering.

am i right in saying there is "banding" in the sky of 3 and 4, which is caused by converion to jpeg and the degrade of quality from the upload?

I think I perfer 3 as well. it has more 'mood'.

(number 2) That was the second shot I did. The first was with a shorter shutter speed as I also think the light is a bit much, but I ran into issues with the foreground being way to dark.

I think the banding that your on about is right. I've saved it as the biggest jpeg I could in PS and uploaded to photobucket, which is going to compress it a fair bit.

yeah i know what you mean, i've come across this situation a lot too, possibly a very faint fill flash + the longer exposure would work??

Really like shot 3, wish i stopped with you now. Shame about the compression issues. This might have looked cool with a few star trails.

Good job buddy. How did the shots of the moon turn out?

they are all a too dark for me but i might have my monitor calibrated wrongly atm

Did many shots of the 'ghost' images, white/grey jackets and jumpers doesn't tend to work very well unless there's light behind you, like if the light of that church was in your body.

Number 3 for me.
