Left 4 Dead demo available

If this thread is anything to go by though it appears the demo has won over many who would have otherwise not risked paying between £22 and £35 on something which has been perceived to be a "mod", so in this respect the demo has been a good move

Dont bite. Hes gonna get it, some people like to think they can resist... but they cant.

So why limit it in the manner they have?

i cant hold on till it is released in the shops so am getting the demo now :). Hope it isnt a let down, though after seeing the 'Official Thread' and other vids etc i am pretty confident it will be worth it.

/Edit 40kb/s oh dear, i may be here a while :(

limit what ? its a free demo ... just go download it like any other demo and play it .

i can honestly say its the best shoot em up ive played in beards, dont miss out on the most fun you can have shooting zombies ever !!

Rofl all these moaners, "but they've limited the demo omfg". Stfu and play the DEMO if you like it buy it on release if you don't then don't.

I can't play the demo, that's the point, Its unlikely I will have the opportunity to do so in the next week, learn to read

I'll be honest, nothing grabbed me from the Demo. Not sure if i'm going to get it?

I like FPS, and i'm good at them (my only skill in life) but it just seemed, uninteresting. I think the only good twist would be controlling the zombies? not sure thats worth £30 though.

Which expires in what 5 days now? That'll be the limit I'm talking about.

and thats a problem ? its a DEMO , you get to play it before its released giving you the opportunity to sample its delights and make a judgement on its playability...

again, you can download it freely, play it for the 5 days and make a sensible rationale decision as to whether its worth purchasing , so as you can see there is no down side to this .. be thankful they are letting you try before you buy

Maybe you'd like to read a little further before posting?

Well, I for one thought it was far better than I was expecting.

It physically made me laugh out loud about 10 times during play.

When the Zombies rush you, it makes you panic, AHHHHHH lol

Brilliant fun, though after a couple of run throughs, the novelty started to wear off.

So, I considered ordering it... but, it's too expensive for what it is.

If it had a proper single player story to play through ala Half Life 2, I'd be straight in there, but, I started to make the order, to find out how much tax it would be, then ran it through xe.com

52.00 USD = 34.8406 GBP
United States Dollars United Kingdom Pounds
1 USD = 0.670011 GBP 1 GBP = 1.49251 USD

£35 is too expensive. That's with the $5 off for this week too.

I don't know what's up with Steam pricing, but it's always so much more than PC games cost from online stores. Depending on the game, or if it's just a few quid in it, I grin and bear it, but in this instance, I find that price ridiculous.

If they do a special weekend, and sell it for £15-£20, I'll be all over it, but for now, I'll pass. I rarely pay that much for console titles. I guess I'm just used to paying less for PC titles, and again, this just didn't feel like it was worth full price. It's a good fun, action arcade game. As such, I don't think it should cost more than the likes of Half Life 2 etc, with full single player campaigns.

Just my 2p.

Shame, but I'll pick it up again when it's cheaper.

Vin.

EDIT: Right, I just visited one online store, so it's probably not the cheapest, I just went there to see if it was available on disk. So, you can get it from the rainforest for £19.99 on DVD.
Practically half price (when the $5 discount runs out at the end of the week)

HALF PRICE? If I shop around, I may find it cheaper. I bought Crysis on launch day for £15, and UT3 as well... this is why I think £35 for this is way too much. £20 works though.

If you buy "Steam" games on disk from a store, and install it, you can integrate them with Steam, yes? Is it complete? What I mean is, if I install Left4Dead from DVD, and add it to Steam, does it then no longer require the disk in the drive to play, and auto download patches from Steam, and integrate with Steams online service/friends list, etc?

I've no idea, as I've actually bought every game from Steam direct. But in this case, if I can get it for half price, and not lose any of the benefits to Steam, besides the simplicity of downloading it in the first place I'd tempted to buy the retail instead, and do that.

what have they limited....they've given you a demo, of two levels, your lucky to even get demo's of half the games coming out nowadays.

So far every time I've played this, it's been different, so hey.

Steam pricing has always been garbage, it's not exactly hard to figure out, take COD4 for instance...thats still more expensive than half the new games out at the moment.

Buy it in the shops, or online, you can get it for about £20 delivered, so hey.
