so me and my sister are thinking of changing our internet providers (bulldog) and i just wanted to know which one is the best. my sister is saying o2 but i just want to double check

IDNet.
When it comes to internet these days, you get what you pay for.
I pay a lot, dont get a lot - but i do get very very decent speeds.

Sky, I've been with them for 9 months now, just had one outage, I'm on their 16Mbit/s connection and get 90% of that for big downloads.

Used to be with Eclipse who five years ago were the nuts as a ISP. Eclipse went to the dogs after Kingston communications took them over so I made the jump to Sky with big worries. My worries were unfounded.

I would say though I got the whole Sky package, HD, Sports etc, cost me £60 a month which is nuts really.

im on o2 at home home and its absolutely amazing, best customer service and always get 20meg even during peak times.

on virgin at uni and its the worst thing ever ever ever omg virgin are so horribly bad. only hit 20meg on a speedtest once, during day it ranges from 0.3meg to 5meg, customer service is the worst in the world...and their tv boxes are terrible as well. avoid at all costs.

Be imo. Been with them for about a year and a half now (Had Tiscali and Bulldog before that) and Be have been amazing.

absolutely. Be* are without a doubt the best ISP in the country.

they couldn't care less about what you download or when you do it.

I'm with ADSL24 who seem OK. Decent speeds and good support. I moved from Nildram a few years ago after they got taken over and after I started getting problems with dropouts...

I do get disconnected at midnight for some reason though? Might look into changing when I get back if I can get a better deal.

Newnet are absolutely brilliant.

My advice would be to choose a smallish company and not one like O2, BT, Talktalk etc as they are literally all ****.

Be* are going downhill...for the past 2 months more DNS servers errors than anything else, lots of outages also...couldn't get ANY US website last week after 5pm.

Like one of the above i had moved to ADSL24 about 9 months back and its been pretty much plain sailing ever since. Im getting an 8MB connection (as high as i can get) and it works pretty much flawlessly with the exception of the odd central being a bit over run at which point you can check with their central checker and simply reconnect to get on a less loaded central. But saying this i cant remember the last time i even had to think about doing it.

Problems start when they get bought out though.

Freedom2Surf used to be wonderful, then they got bought out by Pipex... who got bought out by Tiscali =/

There is a whole new improved DNS platform that went live last week, I pasted the IP addresses in the big O2 thread.
