How much was your car worth?

2001 330d Sport auto

According to Parkers:
Original Price £30,055

Thats without the options though, which i think this might have a few.
Got it for around £6k ish

I didnt think the DC5 ever came to the uk officially ?

I'm talking about once imported mate. The new price in Japan + the import costs + SVA + the renting of the model report + the importers cut put the car in the over £25k bracket. It took about a year or two for the price to come down.

2005 05 Seat Leon FR TDi 150

New (according to parkers) was £16,200 (But I remember seeing the invoice for mine being nearer to £18k by the previous owner)

Bought for £11,495 1.5 years ago

Now worth about £8k Private or £9k from a Dealer (again, Parkers) with 65k

Car depreciation is so huge, it makes me think there are few situations where it makes sense for mere mortals.

I've never bought new, and there's every chance I never will. The bargains out there for two or three year old cars right now are amazing.

2008 335i M Sport Coupe

Cost new with lots of extras 44k
Paid for from main dealer 5 weeks ago at 6 months old 34k
Costs now from main dealer with same colour and spec 33k

Lost a thousand in five weeks at a main dealer, If you were to buy private obviously there would be bigger saving to be had but unfortunately I have only found this car with the spec I want for sale at main dealers and it being black seems to make it cost more too.

M

New - £37,550 + options

Paid - £1200

Worth £1500ish on a good day, difficult market the e38 7 series.

Still, very good value for money with 97% depreciation over the last 9.5 years!
