Samsung Omnia I900 owners thread.

Have you still got it plugged in when searching for your music??... its like a Sony Ericsson phone when its plugged in you can't browse to the storage card from within the phone!.. you need to unplug it and then it should find the 'Storage Card' drive.

I realised this after I unplugged it and tried it again!! Many thanks!

EDIT: The only problem now is that the phone doesn't accept .m4a files (which 90% of my music is!) so I think I'm gonna have to convert a load!!

I immediatly flashed to a non operator firmware, these basicaly remove all the operator crap software and put back the original Samsung stuff.. including Googlemaps!... plus it makes to battery life sooooo much longer!!.. mine went from 1 day (ish) to 4-5 days on standby (and thats with Bluetooth on!!) :)

The only problem with this is that I am on a Vista PC with no access to XP... I would love to flash it to get rid of the operator stuff (even though there isn't that much) but cannot see a way round it with Vista.

go back a couple of pages (about page 47 I think) for a guide (by me) on how to flash to the latest (stable) firmware and where to get it from (by Dangerous)...

I am positive I saw a new upgrader for Windows Vista..not just XP anymore...will have to try and find the link!

edit according to this:

http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/fr/sub02_xp.jsp#

It does say XP updater however:

"- This Samsung OMNIA OS update file was customized for your Samsung OMNIA phone and operator.
The file may not properly work on other Samsung OMNIA phones.
- PC Requirements : Microsoft® Windows® 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista™"

doing a ROM update and its stuck at 71% for ages now.. :(

i assume that it shouldnt take long to copy across and being stuck at the same place for nearly 10 mins is bad?

you think reboot it and start the rom again ?

edit.: i just restarted it and its loading past the point it stuck on .. phew

Hey guys, I am currently on HH3, do you rekon it would be worth me going to HI3? My battery doesn't last longer than 24 hrs. I leave bluetooth on and that connects to my car kit for approx 1 hr a day. I have everything else switched off.

By the sounds of it I should be getting better battery life than this?

Yeah for sure - I'm keeping this one for a while now!

DZHJ1 here and working grand. I tried DXHI3 yesterday but google maps app was messing me about glitching my zoomed in gps location at home with zoomed out portions of southern USA strangely, now its running really well and battery seems ok so far today though it was fine with HI3 also.

Is there any way for a Vista only user to update my Omnia HG5 to the version which has the best battery life? As it stands, my omnia lasted 20 hours before notification of low battery pops up. I have bluetooth on for music headset - used it for an hour max.

Cheers.

yup, the one im using now was upgraded with vista
http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/sg/sub02_Vista.jsp

Press the 'dial' key to the left of the optical pad to bring up the dialer
With the onscreen keypad input *#1546792*#
Select 'Preconfiguration'
Enter code *#81230*# and select OK
Select 'Singapore', with the default Operator
Accept this, DEVICE WILL HARD RESET
Run update, and all should be well.
