I miss Safeway

Safeway got bought by wallmart, wall mart own morrisons so basicallly they bought out there nearest competition!

Putting them millions in the red at the same time

thats some massive misinformation you have received there like..
When correcting people do you bother to use google or anything? =/

"Founded in 1899 by William Morrison in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, Morrisons was for many years focused in the north of England. With the takeover of Safeway in 2004, the company expanded southwards, and now has a total of 375 superstores across the UK."

Thats the second paragraph on its' wiki.......
And everyone knows Asda is a Walmart company.

Safeway used to be great.

I remember the baked-bean wars of 1995 when they were 1p/tin in Safeway :) Had beans on toast for dinner for about 2 months with the savings going on beer :)

Morrisons is better. I miss KwikSave. "I'll have 1kg bag of biscuits called "Biscuits" and a tray of 7p baked beans." And two boxes of Renies for the heartburn.

The most horrible supermarket I've been in is the Tesco in Wycombe town centre. It's depressing, dull, dirty, falling to bits and there's so much Tesco-branded food they don't even stock. The freezers have been on the brink for months and months, meaning there's often vast amounts of blue paper towels on the floor around them, soaking up all the water. Most of the staff seem like morons too; one young gentleman decided to have a conversation about his flatulence whilst scanning my purchases.

Lidl is good for biscuits and stuff, and they often sell random cheap stuff. Think they need to work on how they group products together in their stores though:

:D

The price (for anyone that doesn't know) is above the products in Lidl, unlike all other UK stores where it's below. :)

So many idiots didn't understand that when I worked there. :/

Yep, the freezer of roast potatoes was below (just visible in the pic). Found it quite funny to find two fairly different product lines grouped together though!

is waitrose posh? we have them over here but its in the same store as iceland and they call it shoprite.. weird i always thought it was part of the cheap crap iceland company

Why would anyone miss Safeways? The food wasn't that great, it doesn't sell anything that any of the other Supermarkets that doesn't sell, the prices wasn't the cheapest nor was the service or atmosphere of their stores.

It was the worst of the Tesco/Sainsbury/Safeways, our one got taken over by Morrisons, even though it is no Waitrose, it is slightly better than it was before.

Here it is, very posh, well.... posher than all other major supermarkets, but its no Fortnum and Mason. It is is a bit like shopping in M&S Food Hall.

I think they condoms were above the frozen veg when I worked there, then they moved to above the chips...I guess they think people had some sick perversions towards frozen veg. :p

Just making use of the shelf space really. If you look at Lidls they are just a warehouse with minimal shelving, unlike UK stores that have bigger shelves and proper sections for items.
