206 is going!

Wouldn't really say they were bangers, its taken me a long while to select a couple of examples in the condition i'd like/expect!

As said earlier on, home 'improvements' come first now, just freeing up some cash to finish off our buying list :)

After many years of various threads of what car only for you to epic fail each time I will find it hugely amusing if you now buy an ST24 :D

Priorites are much different now :)

When i bought the 206 i was only really in the early stages of a relationship with my partner, when we moved in together i realised what a mistake it was to buy the 206, but its just one of those things :)

Previous financial circumstances have often effected things, however i dont regret the cars i've bought (ok, maybe the 206 ;)).

I did actually try to get in there and buy rg-tom's Ghia X, but it was sold by the time i got in touch with them (when he linked it on here!)

It wasnt even that long ago that you bought the 206 was it? or am i imagining things?

Back end of February :)

Have been with the GF since Aug 07, but a change in financial circumstance means we have bought a house a lot quicker than anticipated.

Clio 172? Not sure about the tax on these though.

Edit - Just realized it needs to be 5 door with reasonable boot size.

Brave man :D

As 'brave' as i am, this is a discussion about my crap car choice, not my personal circumstances :)

Please dont spend too much on a mk2 mondeo matey, they are good cars if bought as a cheap banger runaround, but thats the end of their usefulness. Dont pay over the odds for one with pristine paintwork or silly mods, just get a cheapy ghia(x) 2.0 model which looks as if it has been at a good home.

I feel betrayed by Mk2 Mondeos. I loved and cared for mine from 4 years old. It was pristine.

AND STILL THE GOD DAMN ARCHES ARE ROTTING

Dunno you can get a Mk3 2.5 Zetec S with nav if you look really hard for that sort of cash, think i'd prefer the newer car.

Edit: Tax issue clearly but its not much money imho.

Surely 3k is going to get you a good Mk3 Mondeo? I'm guessing the dogs start from £1250-£1500? Something like a 2 litre Ghia X Mondeo Mk3 would seem to fit the bill here. It's not going to set the world on fire but performance will be acceptable and it should feel reasonably refined and comfortable.

I wouldnt want a £2k Zetec-S with nav. They are cheap but for a car of that spec to be cheap would mean it would be a tad shabby, and I dont like shabby cars.
