I don't know much about them except that they're NOT like in movies and games, but I've fired blank from an SA80 in a small room, I imagine a suppressor would help with the crazy temporary deafness you'd get firing indoors without ear defenders.
correctedThere was a nasty incident when I was in the Army Cadets about 20 years ago. A group of cadets were live firing L98s, the cadet version of the L85. One cadet cocked and pulled the trigger, but the weapon had jammed. I assume he did not pull the cocking handle back far enough, this kind of jam was quite common.
An adult instructor took the weapon off him, but for some reason took it behind the firing line. I'm not sure if the weapon was actually dropped, but it received some sort of impact and the round discharged. Another cadet on the firing line was hit in the shoulder. Luckily he was okay. Caused one hell of a stink and all live firing was banned for quite some time. Was real shame as I was due to attend a Bren Gun training day a few weeks later.
back home in Oz
We used to hit the sides of bullets with a small hammer = -------------> BANG!
Besides, a gun is a fairly large thing, such as GPMG, Bren or Howitzer and I would not like to drop one of those. The HE shells alone for a 105mm weigh 35 lbs.
When Jamie Lee Curtis drops the UZI in True Lies it goes off... must be true.
Damn you! That was almost exactly what I was going to say![]()
Suppressors are pointless when using normal ammo.. it's supersonic.

still a nice muzzle break if you're using something like a XM110, the suppressors also get rid of muzzle flash, which will probably be more noticeable for finding the enemy, that a moving sound.

IIRC with the Uzi this is not possible. It has a grip safety, so unless you're depressing that safety, the sear should be disengaged and the weapon will not discharge.
in the film it's a MAC10/11 as someone stated earlier.
Ask Freefaller, he's French.
