Ok so ive had an offer to swap my 4870x2 seeing as theirs an internal fault with it *again* no clue what it is but the temps get to about 100'c'ish then the comp shuts off, anyway the offer from the manaufacturer said they would replace my 4870x2 with 2, yes TWO 4870's for the inconvenience caused twice in a row, naturally i lept out of my seat with joy, but what type of performance gain will i see from 2 of these in Xfire ?

performance between the x2 and 2 4870's is pretty much on par with the other, sometimes better, sometimes not, but the difference it only a couple of FPS.

how-ever, looking at your sig, i see you only have a P45 board, meaning when you using crossfire, both your slots will still run be PCI-E 2.0, but the bandwidth will be dropped down from x16 to x8 over both slots, this might affect your performance quite a bit.

another thing to consider is what model of 4870 is it, 512mb ones or the 1gb ones??

That would be a downgrade with your board. They would only be running at 8x not 16x, and would be much more heat in your case.

OK How would a person without a motherboard give such advice?!? lol

anyway yeah to the OP, wingnuttzz is right, you might be hindered at the extreme level by the 8x PCI2.0

hehe, i'm working on it, lol.

2 1gb golden sample cards would be sweet, overclock really well (and they are factoy overclocked too) and if you are getting a x48 board, it would work good.

but as someone has said, it will be a lot more heat in your case, but being that you have an antec 1200 i dunno if that is such a problem

tricky one, lol

Think i would still go with a single x2 and then with your new x48 board you could slap another one when you need for a lot less then they cost now as long as you have a psu to handle it :).

Actually i think i will just keep all the stuff i have now, have 1 4870 and give the other one to my brother as he has a 2900 so he should be quite happy with this :)
